Anyone else see Celeron 600 stock 1.7 volts???

The last 6 retail 600 celerons that I have seen are stamped at 1.7 volts not the usual 1.5 volts? The MB's also detect them at 1.7 aswell.
The neat part is that all 6 of them will run at 900 no problems and 2 would go into windows at 1008 (112 MHz.).
Does anyone no if Intel has changed the celeron core or do you think that they ran out of celerons and restamped coppermines?

Yes they are based on the Coppermine core, but up until now they have all been at 1.5 volt core. I am just trying to see if anyone else has seen Celerons set to 1.7 volts!

All 633 and 700 are supposed to be 1.65 V. There's no such thing as a 1.5 V Celly 633. The 600s are supposed to be 1.5 V though. Maybe they're just increasing their yields by going 1.7 V, realizing what most of us already suspected... that a 600 MHz 1.5 V chip is not a guaranteed thing with the lousy cooling they use.

Are yours slot 1? I'm just wondering what's with the extra 0.05 V over 1.65 V.

I just got a 600 FCPGA chip and it is 1.7V core. ;) is this a better one or the one with 1.5 V? if this can run stable at 100 MHz, then I would consider myself lucky. By the way, is the heat sink and fan supplied in the retail box sufficient if I run it at 900 MHz? I am a newcomer to O/C so I donno much. pl lemme know. thanks.

<< They all overclock to 900 or higher! >>

Wrongo! If you're lucky, 65-70% overall.

1.7v default are cC0 stepping Celerons.

bye

Yeah, well usually the safe voltage is +10% of the stock volts, so in your case it's about 1.85V.
There is no specific "stable" volt for each corresponding FSB speed for each CPU... u just try to up the FSB until it isn't stable, and then increase the volts on 0.05 increments until it's stable again. So it's all trial and error, and it depends on which chip u get (again, the quality of each chip and hence the req' voltage differ)
So long as u stay reasonably within the volt limits of the CPU u shouldn't need to worry about frying the CPU, and of course this is provided u have adequate cooling =)
Cheers

I am running a new Celeron 600 @ 900 on a MSI-6309 motherboard with a GlobalWin FHP308 heatsink and fan. The motherboard originally auto detected it and ran it at 1.75 volts at default 600. I thought that default was 1.5. Is this a problem? I manually set it to 1.65 and it seems stable, even at 900. It also runs cool, around 38 degrees C for the core, 28 deg C for the system those temps being under load of UT for 45 minutes or so. Should I be concerned? I am not sure the 6309 can do 1.5 volts for the cpu. Any ideas?

do I need more cooling than the Heat sink and fan that came with the retail box if I run my celeron 600 at 900? thanks.
