Anyone else really impatiently waiting for R600?

what 100% more cost?
😕

how much is a used x1900xt? ... even a new one is pretty damn cheap for even +50% performance .... which should make 'the difference', in your case for your LCD upgrade 😛

i think you just want to complain ... 😉

Oh, i am complaing yes. I don't want to wait more.

But as for running CF?

There are so many issues with CF & SLI, & so many games that it doesn't actually benefit, since it's somewhat driver dependent.

Then one ends up with two cards running at the performance of one.

I'll be honest, i have absolutely zero interest in running SLI/CF, as i explained in the post two up.

I guess my situation is a bit more specific than most peoples, since i run dual displays, & portrait mode in the secondary one.

That & the fact i like to keep my video card budget under $500 CND 😛

i want *everything* also 😛

patience 😉

... or spend the bucks for something you don't really want

but quit complaining as you yourself said there is *no solution* given your parameters.

I agree with N7 about CF. I thought about it for a minute too, but CF is just as buggy as SLi if not more.

Oh, & no, i don't believe in waiting, but i also don't believe in buying overpriced products w/ inability to correctly run in portrait mode.
So simply put, nV isn't like to make it into my rig anytime soon.
Unless of course i decide to completely quit running XP, which may very well be a near reality.

what's the problem with portrait mode? mine runs fine in portrait, in both xp and vista.

I bet it doesn't.

I also got a buddy to test out his 8800 GTS for me also.
XP = tearing + lagginess
Vista = fine

Seems Vista drivers work properly.

Huh, who woulda thunk it....

R580 has served me very well till November.I bought my 8800GTX from day 1 and it also served me very well thus far.. I still haven't seen a D3D10 game, but tbh I did expect that when I was purchasing the G80. It was all about the vastly superior performance..And I'm very happy I did.. I can play remotely anything with many fps and all teh goodies on. I never wait if I want something and I'm actually able to purchase it of course.. Now I'll wait and see both offerings now from nVidia and AMD/ATI and consider my options..

I purchased an 8800GTS to replace my X1900XT back in January, and the performance is nice, but I'm still interested in R600. My overall experience with the 8800, especially in Vista, has been mediocre and I keep wishing I had ATI's driver support back. This is the first nVidia card I've owned, and I expected that the driver support was going to be excellent; in the past everyone talked about how good nVidia's drivers were. Perhaps that was true then, but nVidia's current drivers are trash, and nVidia isn't doing anything to improve them.... it's been something like 1 and a half months since nVidia released a new Vista driver and about 3 months since the last XP driver.

Nah, frankly I'm so underwhelmed by the selection of good new PC games (and I'm not buying a $500 card just for Crysis) that I've stuck with my trusty old 7800GT for awhile now...

I'm not waiting for the r600. I'm keeping my x1900xt as long as it can run new games at nice settings. And that's also only for the games that can keep my interest. Currently it runs Stalker nicely, so I'm set for now. Then again, with so many peeps on the forum flashing g80's in their sigs, I might just be tempted to get the r600 whether I need it or not. 😉

well for me the decision is simple. I just don't understand you guys spending big bucks on DX10 cards when there are no DX10 games out yet...

for me, I am waiting untill the release of Alan Wake.. even if Crysis gets released first, I am waiting for Alan Wake.. and then once that game comes out.. if I can afford it I am getting a Quad-Core and the best DX10 card on the market at the time.

Because after seeing this video : www.youtube.com/watch?v=DetnKgOxrSI I just gotta have it

nonsense

unless you are pure FPSer ... there are *awesome* games out

even STALKER is *excellent* and IS fps -- and just released

and i think most of your guys - especially the OP - just likes to complain

IF i had a xfire MB and i didn't want to wait for a new GPU or buy nvidia, i know i'd sure as hell spend a hundred dollars to give it a *try* instead of whining about *suffering* with bad Frame Rates in games ... xfire would cure 90% of your games's stuttering ... and you *don't know* how much it is improved --or not.

if you still didn't like it you could always sell it for NO loss 😛

Holy mother of the flying spaghetti monster; that's positively mind-blowing.

What kind of hardware are you going to need for that thing?

One core just for that tornado effect?!

Alan Wake *suggests* Quad-core 😛

evidently it is DX10/Vista only ...

r660 xfire ... gtx8900 sli would be *best* if you have a hi-res screen ... or whatever top-of-the-line is available *then*
