You don't deserve an education until you grow up a little. 3k isn't bad. You can easily make that working the lowest minimum wage job around.

i understand completely. loans suck ass for me... i'm screwed when i graduate

wait, 3 grand for the community college or USF

I paid $14k for 4 classes. Tuition was $28k/year.

Although, being the genius that I am, I had a pretty nice scholarship and came out owing <$30k after 4 years. 🙂

you may want to stop blowing yourself, you may get chapped lips 😉

Hmm I'm paying around 2500 for 4 classes at my instate University. Of course even though it is public it has hardly any taxpayer support, because people in Alabama refuse to support education at any level.

3k for community college. That is alot, whoever said it wasn't is an idiot. Its community college, which means its the crappiest of higher level educations you can get. I learned that from my first semester there.

I didn't get a loan for 2 reasons, one they suck to pay off. Two, I figured I'd be a resident by now and only have to pay about 1000 which I could do. I missed the deadline by like a week. And no, you can't make 3k working any minimum wage job. I work one, as a bagger at publix 30 hours a week on top of going to school (Well not anymore) and I have to pay my car payment, along with gas, car insurance, and food. Wasn't able to save up 3k within the last few months.

I hate it when people complain about out of state tuition, why didn't you go to a state school in YOUR OWN state!

The only people who have any case are people who live close to the border. For instance, if you live in Bucks County, PA, you are closer to The College of NJ than many New Jerseyans, yet you would have to pay out-of-state tuition.

Their case is still weak, however - their tax money isn't going to support NJ schools.

I wanted to play soccer at USF (really good soccer team) and my family moved down here. I like having a place to live.

My father put himself through college (Purdue) by working one year, going to college the next year and living mostly on graham crackers and peanut butter (during the Depression). Not that I'm suggesting anything so drastic, but where there's a will and determination there is always a way.

Ya I agree, thats kinda what Im gonna be doing. Working full time this next few months and saving up for my next semester. Sucks but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I just wish I hadn' tmissed the deadline by a fricken week. Then it would only be a thousand or so instead of 3000... and that 3000 is without books or anything.

So if your family lives there now, won't you get in-state status next year?

My daughter went out of state one year. It was really expensive. Our state wouldnt chip in cause she went out of state and her school wouldnt cause she wasnt a resident. I could see their point, but it sucked that it cost me almost $30k all totalled up with tuition, books, admin fees, foodplans (biggest rip off ever), $$ to really feed her, lab fees, spending money, etc.

But getting a college education is not an entitlement, it is a privilege. Rightly so!

🙂

i had to pay for community college out-of-state fee (1800) for a year
then out-of-district (900) for another

they have finaid for a reason

$3k for full time is nothing.

If that is for community college, then drop out.

well said. why would you go for a community college or junior college? unless you plan to transfer after a year. if this is in the case, then go for it and stop bitching. if you don't plan to transfer or you screw up(maybe again) then drop out.

Not sure what you're getting at. And I do plan to transfer, just there was no way to pay out of state tuition at a real university, I could barely afford a CC> What are you saying about screwing up? Not sure how I screwed up?

And to wink, I already said earlier I moved out of state with my family. Didn't feel like getting an apartment and living by myself on top of everything else I already had. Plus the nearest university to me was like 3 hours, I lived in a really small city that was fairly secluded.

I got a pretty nice scholarship from my university. I think I'll owe about $0 after 12 terms and 190 credits.

Who *can't* afford tuition? It's called Financial Aid and they hand it out like water. Only time you will be denied or given less is if a) you make alot of money or b) your parents are rich. In either case, you don't have a problem.
