Anyone else pass out after getting blood drawn?

So about an hour ago I get my blood drawn. I leave and get in my truck. Within about 30 seconds, I am struggling to remain conscoius. I made it all the way into Burger King where I prompty passed out at a table. I can only guess that I was unconscoius for under a minute. One of those "nice old lady" types came over and asked if I was ok and all that. Within about a minute of regaining sonscoiusness, I felt great. Weird.

shouldn't drive right after giving blood. how long did you hand out after they pulled the needle?

I was in my truck within 2 minutes of giving blood.

I have not given blood in the past 5 years, so driving was never an issue.

I have, it was about 5-10 minutes after the needle was pulled out. It was probably because I hadnt eaten that day

my cousin passed out while giving blood. now we all call her half pint.

it just happens to some people. was this your first time giving blood? it may just have been due to your uneasiness with the process, of which your general machissimo didn't let you become consciously aware.

hell yes I was uneasy with it-the last time I got stuck with a needle was when a doc put a needle into my big toe EIGHT TIMES

felt really faint yesterday after giving blood at lunch time...had not eaten all day and the location was not that cool. Lasted for a couple minutes then after getting some AC felt much better.

First time this has ever happened to me while giving blood (10+ times)

i can't give blood anymore. i can get shots fine and be hooked up to an iv if i need to be, but if i try to give blood my blood pressure free falls and i nearly pass out. can't do anything about it, it's just a physical reaction.

This is why you should eat before you give blood, and load up on the cookies, orange juice etc. after you give blood. Very important!!!!!!!!

I very nearly did, but that was partly due to the fact that I had to fast for 24 hours prior and they took a about a pint out of me(or so it seemed). But it didn't hit me until I was in the parking lot, so I went back inside and sort of collapsed in the office.

There is a HUGE difference between getting blood drawn (meaning small quantities for testing purposes) and donating/giving blood.

all I got was a small vial of blood removed

Edit: oh yeah, I was required to fast for 10 hours prior to it

no. But i dont drive for 15 minutes after giving blood...i eat all the food they provide me with and chat with the other doners.
