I've got a Presario 1672 laptop, upgraded to 192MB RAM and an AMD 450MHz K6-2+ processor... :cool::p

A compaq is pre-broken for you so you will never have to worry about that happening.

Personally, I don't quite like the case design of the latest Compaq models (you know, those big ones with coloured front panel - yuck!), but admire many HP models. Now that they've merged, I think Compaq PCs will look better and better, at least I hope.

And as for inferior components being used, they're not. It's clearly stated on their site that prebuilt models are very very basic configurations, and if you want smth more, like the GF4, for example, you have to order it to be in your PC.

where the hell were you all when i bought my compaq! argheth, least i have it optimized now, it runs pretty good, reformat install just windows instead of that compaq shiet, specs now:

1ghz
384ram
Geforce 3 ti200
sb live

only problem i'm having is it sounds like one of my fans are dying, argh.

LOL, I got my Compaq Presario during December 1993. Its super fast.......66MHz!

It also has 4 MB ram.
