Anyone else notice PCGAMER has been getting crappier and crappier?

Another thing that pisses me off about CGQ and PCG, is that they waste valuable space (which they don't have much of anyways) on reviewing garbage games. Who cares about games that get 10-20 %, waste of space, they should just have a little colum listing all games below 50 % as "Not Worth Your Time" we should start a petition here and change this stuff...

I agree. I remember back in the day i used to get th em and they were mega thick. So much information and good reviews. I still enjoy the magazine tho and go by their reviews all the time. I trust just about anything they say since I have been reading it for so long. The only bad peice of advice i got from them was for alpha centari...Damn i hated that game.

I also remember back in the day when they had demo disks that was full of stuff. LIke i remember when the menus were in like a room full of crazy funny stuff and you had to interact with everything to get what you wanted.

Dont get me wrong..they are still very funny guys. Take for example the little msg they have on the back cover on every issue. They get asked all the time about it but never say its there. Deff just a random story everytime.

Yea.. I got into pc gaming late 1998 and when I started to get pc gamer their demo cd's where filled with lots of stuff like up to 10 demos, new maps, guides, extra crazy stuff...etc. Nowadays you'll get maybe 2 demos...sometimes just one and none of the extra fun stuff they used to put in.

They as well as every other mag have been REALLY slow when it comes to adopting DVD's for their demo discs. I think PC Gamer just started to make a DVD edition but now that I have broadband I honestly don't care.

The mag is not as good as it used to be but its not total garbage.

Yeah i still read it every month. Although every single time i get one it says this will be your last one and you need to re subscribe. I have been getting them for so long...and i cant really remember ever seeing the bill for it.

I got a weird deal with Playboy. I never once sent them any money, they gave me a year of magazines. Then they gave me 6 more months, each with a notice that this was the only freebee I would get.

I find that the same things have happened to online review sites. Take GameSpy, used to be an awesome site that gave honest reviews and the daily victim was always worth a read. Now their reviews aren't quite as Trustworthy as they used to be. And The Daily Victim is almost nonexistent.

Damn, I'm 19 and I sit here thinking about "the good old days"

I think that we should get used to seeing stuff get crapped on like these magazines and websites. We should all just find a good rocking chair go sit on the front porch and yell at all the kids to get off are lawn.

The reason why PC gamer comes with very few demos is because of the fact demos are so fricken large! Look at battle field 2! It appears that they're moving to DVD but I can't be sure.

Lets be honest, the proliferation of information on the internet pretty much killed the whole gaming magazine phenomnom. The days of exclusive 10 page previews of duke nukem forever are long gone.

PC Accelerator was an awesome mag too...it merged into PC Gamer to make PCG a better mag? Haha...okay there

Naw, PC Accelerator was a fun joke mag...PCG was the serious mag. When they merged they just created a half ass version of both.

I'm currently getting it for free also and have yet to even look at one.

No idea why I even got it.

OP is dead on. My first issue was a massively thick Duke Nukem Forever issue (wow, that game has been delayed for a LONG TIME holy sh!t), and I still have some of those old PC GAMER's saved that were absolutely huge. The editors back then were brilliant, and they always seemed to do something fun and original in every issue (that huge rpg article where thye all dressed up and covered like 10 games in detail springs to mind). All of the pc gaming mags have gone down the tubes, but none have fallen as far as pc gamer imo.
