Anyone else notice a bias in NationStates?

I've been messing with the online game "Nation-States" for a while and I'm starting to notice a rather severe leftist bias. For example, one of my recent issues was a protest against animal cruelty and there were three choices: do nothing, ban meat-eating, or outlaw the really terrible animal abuses only. I chose the rational approach and decided to outlaw only the really terrible abuses, and now the dossier for my country says that "meat-eating is frowned upon". Where the hell do you get that from banning extreme animal cruelty?

The book on which the site is based makes the dubious claim to be a new "Catch-22", but the choices provided for the resolvement of issues certainly does leave people in a Catch-22. Had an issue today dealing with the over-population of a certain animal. I know that if I approve "limited hunting for population control" that all of a sudden the animals will be in danger, but if I choose to protect the animals there's going to be a bunch of BS akin to the whole meat-eating fiasco.

OK, that's all. I'm just minorly frustrated. Nothing more to see here, move along.

I haven't really noticed any bias. Well other than all right-wing nations seem to suffer from crime. You can always dismiss the incidents if you want to.

I sense that this is the perfect opportunity for me to pimp my empire: Empire of Nemesiz :D

unless they are unemployed or working-class, in which case they are variously starving to death or crippled by easily preventable diseases.

sounds like a happy place to me. :)

Funny thing is: I have replied to the issues how I feel. I haven't tried to create a "weird" place to live :p

When ever I see an asinine issue I dismiss it. Fvck it, if people can't solve their problems I am not going to legislate them away...

From the NS Site

Thanks for visiting Jennifer Government: NationStates, the nation simulation game. Unfortunately, we are temporarily off the air.

NationStates has been far more popular than I anticipated, and my web host's server struggled under the load of thousands of new players. They've just pulled the plug on my account, so NationStates will be down until I can finish moving the game to its new home. This will take about 24-48 hours, depending on how many things go wrong. I am sorry for the inconvenience; I know many of you have new addictions to feed.

There does not seem to be much common sense to most of their issues. Here is the one I had today:
The Issue
Children as young as eight have been spotted gambling in some of Donland's seedier casinos.

The Debate
Social activist Sue-Ann King is outraged. "Gambling needs to be outlawed immediately. It's no wonder children are becoming sucked into the vice, with adults setting such a poor example. Gambling is a stain on Donland's international reputation and it must be stopped!"
[Accept]

However, Crown Casino chairperson Billy-Bob Broadside says, "What's wrong with children gambling? It prepares them for the realities of life, teaching them that success or failure is not due to hard work or intelligence, but the roll of the dice. Besides, if kids weren't gambling, they'd be spraypainting trains."
[Accept]

Obviously the common sense answer is to not allow minors into casinos. I just dismissed it like I am doing to all issues that only have silly choices like the above.

common sense?
check out this UN proposal

Votes for Cows
A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.

Description: Too long has the mighty cow been enslaved without proper reparations for the good it brings to the world - butter, cheese, milk and steak to name but a few! Its therefore only right and proper that we should give cows the vote and give them the place in democracy which they deserve

To my knowledge, the UN-proposals are created by other players.

You get to make proposals and vote on the proposals created by others. So you get more power that way. The downside is that you must obey the UN resolutions, no matter how (in)compatible they are with your nation.

See, that's why I perfer games like Contra: Shattered Soldier because decisions like that don't come up. Only "what gun do I want to use to kill everything in sight". I make enough decisions at work anyways. :D

I didn't know Anandtech was that early on Nationstates. I was a December 2002 nation. (banned in August 2003) It was the first forum where I got more than 10000 posts.
