I read the trilogy 30 years ago when I was 17 and I still have a vivid image of Middle Earth and all of Tolkiens Characters. Still I plan on seeing this movie at the theaters with hopes that they can do a good job translating it to the Silver Screen.

I am defenitly going to see the movie. I have read the LOTR a least 10 times if not more. I think its awesome they are making 3 movies out it. 1 movie would do no justice.

I just wish they had all 3 movies done right now so i could watch them in a row :)

I think Gandalf looks cool. He is grey untill he battles the Balrog in the mines. Then he becomes white.

It's a must-see. High Fantasy movies don't come around often guys. They either screw 'em up by making them comedies or by giving Ron Howard the director's seat (although Willow wasn't really THAT bad). See it!

<<Deeko! what are you on crack?!?!? Nah, I see your point. But the movie will only ruin your image of the books if you let it. LOTR is heavily imprinted in my mind now, and however the movie turns out I know that those original images I got in my head will still be there When I read the Lothlorien chapter 30 years from now, I won't immediately picture Cate Blanchet...I will see the original Galadriel as I always pictured her in my head.>>

I could remember some people I hadn't met in like 7 years looked like, but when I met them again and saw them everyday for a couple months, the old image I had of them dropped out of my head.

<< I could care less about LOTR. (or Harry Potter for that matter) >>

That's the ticket! These movies sound like they'll wax my car and make my life complete, judging from the hype. No thank you, that's what the wife is for. Star Wars Episode 2 on the other hand....

I know what you'll do. For six months you'll spend ungodly amounts of money at the theatres. Then, when the DVD is out (supposedly 6 months) you'll buy that and watch it 24/7 for the next 6 months.... :)

At least, that's what I plan on doing. :D

I had a nice lenghty reply going, but my hands got retarded and hit some goofy key stroke that forwarded me to some random website... and my typing was lost. Ugh.

Basically: NOT THAT INTERESTED. Wouldn't be interested AT ALL if it weren't for all the LOTR fanboys/girls in these ATOT forums. SO, at least know I'm a little curious. The preview during Shrek or whatever it was... wasn't all that compelling.

I'll wait until video, but that is generally my policy from now on. Last experience at the theater was SUCK. Loud, roudy, obnoxious self-centered kids made a bunch of noise... cuasing an unenjoyable experience. Plus, I have a rather large screen at home... so i'm not really losing out. Plus I can pause, rewind, turn off, etc. the movie at will when at home. So, I don't miss anything when I go pee-pee. :) :D ;)
