Anyone else not really get hangovers?

Drinking with some friends last night and today everyone is complaining about being hungover. I feel pretty much fine. Minor headache and a tad hungrier than usual but that's it. It doesn't seem to be alcohol tolerance based as one friend is a heavier drinker than I am. Also my wife and I typically drink the same amount, had the same amount to drink last night and she ended up throwing up. I didn't expect we'd be drinking that much so I didn't even consume more water than usual before hand.

Sadly not the most useful superpower

I've found it depends a lot on level of hydration prior, during, and after drinking, as well as stomach contents. Also depends a lot on what you're drinking. For example I can drink tens of beers and never feel truly hungover, and I can drink quite a few whiskies without getting too roughed up, but if I introduce anything sweetened or other liquors I can get pretty bad hangovers.

For me, it's how much drinking, how late into the night it continues, and how much sleep follows. If I don't get stupid, stop early, and get plenty of sleep, it's like nothing happened.

Depends on what I'm drinking.
  • Wine, next day, please put me out of my misery
  • Liquor, ugh I should know better
  • Beer, and only craft beer, so we're going out for more beer tonight?

Never had a hang over. My bro started drinking b/4 me. His tip was to drink 24 oz. of water before going to be. Worked like a charm.

Sadly, because of migraines, I don't drink much anymore and have a pretty low tolerance for alcohol when I do have a drink.

When I was a kid, I'd get pukey the next day. As an adult, I wake up feeling fine, but I don't drink to get fucked up. I sometimes drink a bit too much, but when that happens, I don't keep going. I chillout for awhile.

I never (or very rarely) got hungover until I was 25 or so. Less than a year later, I stopped 'drinking to get drunk'.

Never been the least hung over in my life. Now, I did do an experiment in my junior year at the U, living in my first apartment solo. Decided to get drunk, had never done anything like that. Never drank in HS, didn't when in the dorm frosh and soph years. I drank one rum and coke after another until I started throwing up... that went on for hours, seemed like all night IIRC. But no hangover. Have never drank a rum and coke since!

I don't drink much. Have had a bottle of 2 buck Chuck prostrate on my kitchen counter for a month, begging to be opened, but I've ignored that genie entirely, couldn't care less. Sipped a thimbleful of Irish Cream a couple times in the last few weeks. Big Drinker!

Not since I stopped drinking. Before then, it was pretty rare and only after shitfaced, stumbling, face down in the snow drunk (you know, two beers).

It also can depend on what you eat in the hours prior to drinking.

I've never had a hangover when I ate/hydrated well before drinking.

I never get them myself, but I don't really tend to drink that much. Never drinked to the point of being shitfaced. I tend to slow down once I get tipsy and eventually switch to pop or water.

I did get stoned pretty badly on weed once though. Never again. 😱

Skip the bottom shelf stuff and you won't get hang over. Go by memory - Sci stupid here - a distiller once told me cheap stuff has higher ethanol which cuz hang over.

I'm not stupid enough to drink something that could dull my senses and not be able to know where I am or be in full control of my actions. 🙄
Never drank anything alcoholic and never had a hangover. Is there a rationale why people do this?

Other being young and stupid? I learned pretty quickly after some embarrassment and knocked it off.

I've got too many spare braincells that's why. We also happen to like the taste of much of what we drink. And we find it a nice way to unwind. We didn't set out to get plastered but someone brought up a Cinnamon Toast Crunch drink and we had all the ingredients so why not?! That's probably what set everyone over the edge

I have to admit I am very suspicious of those who have never done this, never done that, and don't intend to. To me these folks may as well be some kind of alien life.

Moar water. Just drink moar water, that makes hangovers go away.

Hangovers are your body's way of saying you are dehydrated.

I think that's my saving grace. I always make sure that my last drink of the night is water, or at very least pop. Ex: something non alcoholic. The downside of that is it can trigger a non stop peeing cycle, then I'm up all night peeing. It's hit and miss though, does not always do that.

And yet you still went on to comment lolol .... 😛

Have a cocktail or two next time your stressed out and get back to me on the "why" part if you can't figure it out on your own.

It's fun? Ah, I see why you have never tried it. LoL.

We are kindred spirits then.

You know there's a spectrum between 'never had alcohol' and 'not know where I am or be in control of my actions' right? Beer is not PCP.
