Anyone else NOT have internet access at home?

I'm not a college student, but I work at and live near a major university where I can get free internet access (both wired and wireless) whenever I'm there. There's also a public WiFi cloud over the downtown area. Both are about a 10 minute drive from home, and I already spend about 2/3s of my time in one or the other of those areas, anyway.
Since I have no landline and no cable-tv the cheapest home service in my area is costing me $57 a month, and I'm thinking that I'm an idiot for paying it. It's not like I really need to see what's happening on AT or check my account balances from home all that badly.
I've already stopped using the internet at home in preparation for the cut-off, which will occur at the end of this billing cycle (sometime next week).
Anyone else feel the same? How long do you think I'll make it before I break down and sign up again?

This poll would be more accurate if you go door to door with paper and pencil.
What, you think a web poll about going w/o internet access is going to be biased?

$57 for comcast right? Did you know if you get TV, it drops down to $42.95? So you save $14 there by getting TV, but TV costs $13.16 / month, so you end up profitting.

When I moved apartments, I refused to move my desktop until I got decent internet working. I sat at my new apartment stealing wireless, but my desktop was at my other apartment downloading.

I finally moved when Comcast came. Hahahahahaha. That was a glorious day.

When I bought my new place I decided to give up Internet access. It been almost 3 years. Do I miss it sometimes. Most of the time no. I have access at work and at my girls place. There are only a few time when it has been a pain. That being said I will probably be breaking down and getting cheep high speed this fall.

Bottom line

Can I live with out it? Yes
Do I want to live without it? No

My GF's parents don't have digital cable or internet now that they moved to their new house. They are pretty pissed about it and complain day and night, but I just laugh because they didn't research it before moving to the sticks. Atleast they have DirecTV now.

i was a recepient of a DoS attack last week. currently i'm too lazy (and stupid) to fix the problem. so as of right now i have no internet at home. 🙁

Nope, no home internet access at all. I know if I had it at home, I wouldn't leave home. Life isn't about internet. I can use it just fine before/after work or while I'm waiting 2 mintues for an experiment to finish.

Nope. The rest of us aren't cheap.

Why don't you stop cable TV and go somewhere else to watch it?
Because I don't get free TV all day while I'm at work.

You're not supposed to get free Internet either---you're working! 😉

Seriously though- why do you need cable TV? Use an antenna, then get the stuff you want to watch off of torrents or TV network's website.

I probably would consider cancelling my TV service, and just torrenting / getting TV from an antenna if there were OTA HD here. Since I don't live in a major city, though, there are absolutely 0 TV broadcasts that make it here in any usable form (even radio is iffy in some areas).
Maybe I don't know where to look anymore, but the availability of good torrents is nowhere near what it used to be. That's probably had a big effect on my desire for home net access.
