Heh, I've been lovin' the AM2 socket - I have a 3 year old $80 (new) mobo I can put a 940 in if I want too... 🙂

i have an AM2 mobo... the p2 is the first thing i wanted to put in it to replace my x2...
but asus have yet to make a bios for it, so while it WORKS, some features (C&Q) don't, and it has issues booting up (aka, you have to try a couple of times before it boots, one person mentioned hanging too).

AMD has replaced sockets VERY often, and the whole "backwards support" has remained purely theoretical.
