Out of the blue I get a call from my school cashiers office, telling me I have a $300 refund due.

Refunds usually mean you overpaid at some point in the past 🙂

It's like a savings account with a crappy interest rate at your local bank (excluding INGDirect which is at 2.25% BTW).

Discover card sent me a letter last month saying that because of a computer glitch, they overcharged me, so they were crediting my account with $3, so im like, ok cool, threw it away.

The next month they send me a letter saying that due to a computer glitch, they credited my account, and dont know why. And that they would be taking back my $3 credit. The bastards.
