Not yet. The prices are still better than a Intel.

Don't start the wars between the two its only a comment.

Nope. I'll take that dual Athlon solution over any Intel solution any day of the week.

As far as loosing respect for paper releases? I don't care that much.

Respect? I respect the fact that they are a Multi Million Dollar Company that employs thousands of individuals. I also respect the fact that they are in a tough buisiness where you can't sit on your arse or you end up high and dry. What's not to respect? I prefer Intel Products at the moment but that doesn't mean I think AMD is sh!t because they aren't. I'm glad I have a choice between the two. Only a Dweeb Fanboy would disrespect Intel or AMD.

Exactly. I don't care about the cutting edge, just the budget market, and AMD still offers much more CPU power for the money vs. anything from Intel. A quick glance at pricewatch.com shows NO P4 for less than $100, but Athlon XP's up to 2000+ for less than $100. Which would you rather have - a P4 1.5GHz for $107, or an Athlon XP 2000+ for $93? It's an easy call, IMHO.

Ever since Abit released the BP6 and I realized I could build a 2x550MHz Celeron box for $200, I haven't bought any AMD stuff.
When one of my BP6 boards went, I thought about upgrading and getting AMDs, but then a friend sold me a VP6 for $20 so I just bought some PIIIs.

I've never disliked AMD or had any disrespect for them. Now Via, that's another story. :p

A 1Ghz P3 still costs more than an Athlon XP2000+.

Right on! I personally only use AMD chips but they do need to do something a little more as far as marketing is considered to be on par with intel which is not playing on a level playing field.

I'm kinda angry that AMD's reseller channel didnt get the usual massive e-mailing for upcoming get togethers.

*makes note to call dedicated AMD rep and chew him out Monday morning*

I like and use AMD. But this is wrong. Check the Hot Deals forum, a 1ghz P3 can be had for around $80.

I just quickly checked the best prices at Pricewatch earlier.

They are still very close in price.

I respect the fact that AMD is the only company that can put up a decent fight with Intel. Competition is what drives innovation and I don't see VIA or Transmetta putting up a fight anywhere near as strong as AMD. AMD is making do the best they can, they have made some risky moves and Intel is currently trying to drive AMD out of market share with money spent on manufacturing technology.

Respect, odd word but maybe pretty appropriate as others have said. The lucky people that are working there are about to embark on another promo spree across the country, I as a few others here at TeAm Anandtech will be meeting up and going down in Atlanta Monday night to see if any of us get the chance to win and come home with a shiny new AMD CPU. :)

I'm going to the meet in San Jose Ca :D. As far as the respect thing goes, AMD has been doing great IMO. They've done a good job of keeping up and or ahead of Intel compared to the past and while they have had a few little delays recently it really dose not change my outlook on the company, simply because sometimes deadlines cant be met in the buisness world and it happens with plenty of other companys. They delays dont phase me one bit now that I dont upgrade my CPU every month any more :p.

Darn right. Even if you never use an AMD chip, you're benefitting through lower prices on Intel products. Thanks, AMD!!

I respect AMD as a company that has survived in cut throat market like CPUs. AMD doesn't have the billions of cash reserves as Intel and is still managin to survive.

No, I'll wait till I've got a Hammer and then see.

At least they don't use other companies' patents;)
