Inspired by this thread.

I remember a few years ago I was in this Soldier of Fortune 2 clan and me and a couple friends I met online were pretty into it... had a server and played all the time.

Then one day I was like "I don't feel like playing SOF2 right now" so I didn't play... never talked to them again and didn't play the game for like a year after that.

It was pretty random...

I have... some kid on AIM decided I was his friend and started talking to me about BS stuff... no purpose whatsoever. Went on for a few weeks... I just stopped responding. I have no idea why he picked me out of everyone else on that message board... or maybe he did it to everyone. Sorry... go back to your AOL chat rooms... and besides, that's what I have ATOT for. :D

Yes, I used to hang out in AOL chat rooms and then Excite.

Haven't been to either one in YEARS!

(Don't miss it either...)

Happened to me with a Quake 2 clan. My cousin came to stay for a week and he brought Diablo 2 with him, I got so addicted to that game.

Same thing happened to me. I sold a case to this guy, shipped it to him, and wanted to be done with it (it was just a typical trade on the FS forums, I've done it many times before). I guess he decided that made me his friend, and would annoying me like no other via AIM. I finally stopped responding and then just blocked him. Pissed him off but oh well.

I've done that in a few games before. I completely dropped IRC a few years ago, it just got boring to me. I popped in a few months ago and it was all the same people in there, and they all recognized me, but it was still the same... so I uninstalled IRC after that and haven't bothered again.

However, there's a few people I know online that I've hopped from game to game with cause they're funny bastards and we have fun together.

not talking to people in a chatroom, clan, or online game is entirely different than not talking to real life friends
