Anyone else here waiting for 650i Ultra?

Looking to upgrade my system, but the current trend of $299-$399 680i motherboards combined with $199-$399 memory prices seems a little steep. Grown kind of used to the processor being the most expensive item with the memory and motherboard prices being less.

Now do not get me wrong, the 680i boards look quite nice...but loaded with features that I will never wind up using or noticing (dual ethernet, RAID, SLI, packet accelerator thingy).

My hope is that come the new year, 650i Ultras will be out long enough to bypass the initial price spike and the give some time to mellow out the BIOSes for them. Also banking on that memory prices will come down a bit since the PC manufactures will cut back on their system building after the holiday season (plus it seems that all price fixing lawsuits seem to happen in the 1Q which helps keep down memory prices).

Yeah I'm very curious to see what the nForce 650i ultra will do. My understanding is that MSI at least plans to release a board, possibly called the P6N Neo, using that chipset. I've seen very little evidence of it though. That does not bode well for seeing it any time soon, depending on what soon is. There's so little information about it or any other boards on the web at this point. Usually the buzz gets some volume about 3 months before actual physical product becomes available in the U.S. So maybe we'll see one in March? Too difficult to say.

I may give up waiting and go for a P965 board instead.

Yeah its pretty much if you want a decent conroe motherboard with good graphics, go crossfire or financially bend over.

I'm getting sick of Nvidia maneuvering their nforce so its ether impossible to find or about $100+ bucks over what (even a highend) mobo should be. Been waiting to go Core 2 for a long time, getting a desirable SLI motherboard for around $140-$180, or perhaps $200 should not be that much to ask for.

If 650i turns out "too castrated" as a platform, I'm egging their office as its only 5mins from school.

Yes, I was thinking of buying a 680i but in reality I'll probably never run SLI (I have in the past) as I'm more likely to run a single top-end card & tbh I don't need a lot of the other feautures either so why pay for them?
I see the Asus 650i SLI board starting to appear now but even then why pay for SLI when I don't need it?

I would like 650i Ultra, but I don't know if I can wait for it to be released. I might have to settle for P965.

My guess is that they (NVIDIA and motherboard manufacturers) will wait till after the holiday season before we see any 650i Ultras in mass. Why make a lower price product that would potentially compete with your higher price/margin item? Golden rule of thumb is to never compete with yourself.

I'm guessing the launch is in January/February because I havent seen any info on it for a December launch. Thats not to say they wont announce it just before Christmas though.

I am eagerly awaiting this board. Performance should be equal to 680i. I don't want to pay for features I won't use (SLI) or would have no need or benefit to use (dual ethernet). Plus, I want the extra PATA ports. Hopefully, we will see them soon.

That would be the 650i SLI that they have available, and I'm pretty sure most people are considering the 650i Ultra for the fact that they don't want to go SLI.

I am waiting for this board before I build my system too as I have no use for SLI. I hope something happens soon as I don't want to wait past the end of this month :(.

Im thinking about going back to to dark side and upgrading to a E6600 core2duo chip sometime in the near future. I havent had, or consider running a intel system since my intel 450mhz. But the Core2duo seems like the way to go.

Im also waiting on the nvidia 650i Ultra. I do not plan on running SLI. And i like the fact that the nforce 600 series Natively supports 2 IDE channels. The intel x975 & p965 do not.

So im gonna wait until a few months after we start to see the 650i Ultras in retail channels, and pick up a second revision of the board.

Im surprised that there isn't any avalible yet.

Guessing it will be Feb-March before seeing any 650i Ultras considering the decent time window between the 680i and 650i SLI availability from vendors.

Anyone have any idea when we will be hearing about and seeing reviews of the 650 Ultra?
