I put together a 3400+ with albatron K8X800 ProII, 1gb corsair xms ram, nvidi 5600 video card, raptor 74 gb hard drive.

this thing locks up atleast 2x a day. upon reboot windows error reporting says it's a driver issue. once it said symantec was the problem.

I'm just wondering if anyone else is disapointed in the new 64 bit stability.

It's just you. If the rest of us had troubles, say, crashes more than once in six months, there would be a lot of bitching here.
What PSU do you have?

400watt seasonic tornado. chosen for quietness.

lite-on dvd/cdrw, 2 x 17in lcd, HP printer, visioneer scanner, kb/mouse are the only things attached.

latest 4 in 1, latest drivers on everything, latest bios

my only other thoughts are maybe powersupply, maybe get a 450 watt or greater, antec or fortron, I was also going to put in a better UPS, thinking maybe voltage fluctuations are causing it. but windows is saying a device driver is causing it........

My thought is memory. I know corsair is good, but some boards don;t like some memory. Also, is that two sticks ? try one if so. Mushkin or Hyperx are my picks.

I had lock-up problems with an MSI K8T Neo. System would randomly freeze, even when under no stress (idling with just the screen saver running). Tried everything under the sun I could think of (ram, pci slots, drivers, bios settings, etc., etc.). I finally rma'd the board, got a new one in, and haven't had a single problem since. YMMV.

I was having stability problems with my Asus K8V/3000+/2x512mb Corsair value. When I posted here somebody gave me a link to an article on mushkin's website talking about timing issues with the A64. The link seems to be dead now, but basically it said that some modules were unstable with the default tRCD (RAS-CAS delay). When I increased my tRCD from 3 to 4, it fixed all my stability problems. Have you run memtest86 over an extended period of time? You should see if increasing the tRCD by one fixes your problems. Hope this helps,

Bryan
