Anyone else having probs with ATI tech support?

It's been 3 weeks, I bought the card (x850 pro vivo) early August and have had severe software issues. I've taken to submitting more tickets in an attempt to get them to respond. I tried calling their tech support number, but it says I need to register (which I already did). Is anyone else having problems like this? This is my 4th ATI card, I had 1 other issue that at least they attempted to resolve (wasn't resolved until a few Catalyst drivers later). What's going on? Is the AMD buyout affecting their service that badly?

They cannot respond when they've already been fired or are still there but wringing their hands worrying about getting fired. :p

I guess I should have some sympathy, I've been in the support role before and when budget hits, irrespective of how important your position is (even mandated by law), the higher ups look at it as expendable.

Support is the #1 reason I buy Nvidia. I could care less how fast ATI cards are. If the support isn't there, what's the point? BFG and XFX both have a lifetime warrenty.

LOL. Homer's curse, coming back to haunt me.

I saw a thread on another board where someone was complaining about NVidia's support, but they'd respond to his queries almost everyday. I asked them how they could complain about that? I knew NV was preferred, I just had it in my head customer loyalty should count for something and aside from a bump with my last cardwhich I'd worked out (I blamed Asus for it), I've always been able to resolve any issues. I know exactly how it'll play out, by the time I'm ready to upgrade they'll have corrected whatever the issue is, making it a good card for a friend (I still make out since I support friends' PCs anyway)

Well, the card was meant as a place holder until I upgraded, and I have basic functionality so I guess I'll have to live with it for a couple of months until I upgrade to DX10.

It's not that I lack empathy but when it comes to ATI I have found their support and software personnel to be useless and/or unresponsive to severe defects. The CCC fiasco alone warrants a major examination. Ergo, they deserve little sympathy and indeed some, at least, deserve to be fired. As end-users we can only hope that AMD improves matters but I wouldn't bet on it. I have no experience with Nvidia support (I was not aware they offered any for end-users who in their case cannot be customers) but their software efforts are likewise inexcusably shoddy.

Ouch, that's gotta be hard on morale. Point taken about CCC, I couldn't get it to even install on my friend's PC that I gave my 9700 to. Still, that card runs fine, unlike this one...
