Ok, my DL/UL speeds are totally normal, but lately I have randomly started having huge ping spikes (from 50 to near 300) in games for no reason. I Googled and saw that other people with TWC are having the same issues. Is anyone here having issues that has TWC? I saw that you could do a tracert, so I did one to a server on TF2 I frequent, but I don't really know what constitutes 'good' or 'bad' as far as that test goes...

I don't know about ping spikes (TF2 has been fine for me lately), but earlier today, my download was at about 400kbps for at least an hour.

It happens in every game randomly. My download speeds are always fine; which is the weird part. I ran a spyware check with Spybot and fixed all the problems but it still happens. TWC support wasn't much help (as always).

If you're running XP, try WinMtr (google it), if you're running Vista try using.......dammit I dont remember the name...something like pingplotter. WinMtr doesn't play nice with Vista

Blame Verizon FIOS. ;)

Shortly after the Verizon sale rep manager tried to push their service [which I declined] - I noticed my latency in WoW jumped from sub 150ms to 300ms and has been there ever since...

do you play during prime time? I know the backbone I run on gets heavy use and my bandwidth suffers. Timewarner sells more dedicated service but you pay for it. Since they are usually the only cable company in the area they can afford to have crappy service. Who else are you going to get that high of a speed from?

TWC should start offering full fiber backbones but we don't have fiber to the curb yet here.

Verizon FIOS needs to start making their areas of service a little bit bigger. :(
