For the past 8 hours I have not been able to check my Hotmail account. I just get:

"Account Temporarily Unavailable. We apologize, but your account is temporarily unavailable. This delay does not affect the entire site or relate specifically to your account, but the machine that holds your account information is temporarily unavailable. We do not expect this delay to last much longer, so please continue to check our site for your account status. We will do our best to make your account available as quickly as possible. We appreciate your support, and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience."

This is NOT good as I just had 20 eBay auctions end last night and I need to be able to receive my emails from these buyers. I'd like to ship their items today. Stupid, stupid Microsoft. The EXACT moment you really need something it goes belly up.

Does anyone know a way to get in touch with these idiots? There are no phone numbers or ways to contact technical support that I can find.

If you haven't yet tried, I would advise trying to access the account from another computer like at a library or a friends house. That may solve your problems temporarily.

Well, I found a phone number. Took me 3hrs of calling to ever get in, it's always busy. I've been on hold for 35 minutes waiting for anyone to pick up. :disgust:

I'm emailing everyone on eBay from my ISP account. I started using hotmail becuase it was more reliable than my ISPs mail server. I got sick of my email address changing every time I had to try a new ISP becuase the old one sucked. Finally I've got my own domain, so I guess that won't be happening again. However I've been on eBay under my hotmail address for years now becuase it's the only address that hasn't changed up to this point. I guess I'll have to change it all over again to my new domain name, but it's hard to sell for another 30 days during the transfer...

I've tried from 4 other computers, and those ones say:

Due to an internal error your request cannot be processed. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try again later.
If you are attempting to reactivate your Hotmail account, we're sorry but your request cannot be processed at this time.
Please do the following:

Close all web browser windows.
Restart your web browser.
Return to http://www.hotmail.com to sign in.

Of course, none of that fixes anything. Sigh...

Great, another eBay seller using a hotmail email address

I?ve just had the most unpleasant experience with a seller that claims to never have received any of my emails. Any lucky guess as to what email service she was using? Yeah, hotmail...... the b1tch went ahead and left me negative feedback because I left her a neutral for not responding to my three emails in nearly two weeks.

Some of you need to smarten up and use a quality email service.

I have two Hotmail accounts.

One of them worked fine this morning.

However the other went to the same error message stating the particular server my account is on is down.

I hope they don't lose all of our e-mail like they lost our MSN contact list a few months ago :frown:

Well, the Hotmail account is back up, and everything is fine. No lost emails or anything. That's a good thing.

masterxfob, I started emailing everyone from my ISP email, so no one should be too upset. It's just that they expect to get an email from the registered one. Also, it's my PayPal account's email address as well. Up to this point however, Hotmail has been more reliable than any paid ISPs up here in Maine. I was changing an ISP every month, or one was getting purchased by another. For several years my email address was changing every month or two. :| That's why I had to switch my eBay account over to a free email account. Now that I own a domain though I think I'll switch it over to that, as I can check that from any ISP or change it to any hosting service in the future. It will be a pain to sell on eBay for the next 30 days or so though...
