Anyone else having a problem with the C&C Generals Demo?

Hey guys, I need your help. I downloaded the demo for C&C generals, and ran the self-extractor, but the first time i went to do the actual install, it crashed when it was configuring the windows installer. It also caused some nasty stuff to happen with my hard drive, requiring a run of chkdisk. The second and third times, it went fine until the actual installing of the game, where it said that it couldnt find the cab file, even though it was in the same directory. Does anyone else have the same problem, and how did they fix it? See sig for my system.
