My parents have their XP box set to auto update, last night some updates installed and upon reboot XP won't load, just keeps rebooting on its own...

No go in safe mode either.

They are in the process of looking for their XP CD so we can try recovery console...

But anyone else experience any problems? Is there a way to look up what was updated?

Everything went smooth as silk for me. Maybe they need to redownload the updates and reboot the PC.

Bummer. I always read what every update is before I install it. Sounds like an update got corrupt though and fubared windows.

Yes, alas, my computer crashed and went corrupt so I finally had an excuse to install the vista Ultimate I had laying around!

no reason for me to AUTO update but it does check for any new update and it will notify me if I want it or not.

Update went in fine for me as well. There was one serious patch in this round: a reliability fix intended to halt a class of Stop errors.

All three of my systems autoupdated this week with no resulting problems - all stable as can be with XP Pro. The updates included an auto-reboot, and that happened while I was sleeping. Just found three pop up notes telling me it had been done.

Instead of booting into Safe Mode, can they do a System Restore directly from the initial choice screen?

My XP system crashed as well, I figured it was from the new RAM sticks I installed, however these updates could also be the reason...
