Mine is a couple years old and no problems if I put it in the cradle carefully.

It's weird, how does the keyboard work on so little power?

Remember when all those rave reviews on the MX700 were coming out? none of them bothered to mention this very irritating problem. Also, I've never really understood why people like this mouse so much. it's not all that, is it? I don't even like the way it looks.

its an awesome mouse, feels great, looks great, i use most of the buttons (love cruise buttone :D ), and its not a problem if you clean the contacts, i just give'm a buff with my shirt and no worries :p

i've used mine so much the silver is coming off the back part  and on the leftmouse click :D

i run mine with no acceleration and its awesome for fps games, awesome mouse ;)

did you get the mx duo combo with the keyboard?

yup, only $150 AUD over a year ago, and it's still selling for nearly that now :)

I like the keyboard too, apart from it could be a bit stiffer...but you can't have it all i guess :p

there's a new version, the lx710 or something, with new keyboard and mouse. wonder what that is like?

I have a mx700 at work. For awhile, I was having trouble getting it to charge, so one day on a whim, I wiped the contacts on the mouse with my fingers. Viola, charges now without a problem. Since I leave it charging everyday when I leave work, I've made it a habit to wipe the contacts with my finger everyday. It may sound crazy, but it only takes half a second and insures that it will charge.

Besides that, I've had no problems with it.

Mine has always worked fine. I have had it for over a year now easily. I usually walk around and clean the contacts on my chargeable items with alcohol and q-tips. My phones are the worst.

I can just picture that. Q-Tip in hand walking all over looking for the next victim:p

I've had mine for about 17 months.

No problems yet.

Try resynching the mouse with the cradle. That fixes my problem when it refuses to recharge and I get that blinking red light.
I have never seen the blinking red light???

It shows up when the battery is low. I've seen it around 4 times so far. It normally means you're down to about 6 hours of battery life left.

Just throw in the charger for 15 minutes and you're good for another day or so.

I've never cleaned the contacts. What works good for that? anything special?

For those having trouble with the contacts, I hear a pencil eraser works best :)

i have same problem, i just have to push it in hard, then it stays put. the black plastic curve on the base seems to get in the way, it's annoying when you put it in the cradle and wake up next morning and the batteries are dead

Wow. Thanks for bumping. I just started getting the not charging in the cradle bug problem about 10 days ago.

Much better after whiping the corrosion off

Yes, my silver paint is rubbing off too :(

I'm going to need some replacement mine feet pretty soon too. My back ones are pretty flat now.

So

This was a question asked months ago. I followed up much later with a comment about something that I did. Should we have only one thread per object?

Crucial's forum:

Intel P4 thread: The only thread where you're allowed to talk about P4's
Girl thread: The only thread where you're allowed to talk about women
Science thread: The only thread where you're allowed to talk about anything science related

my power supply for the cradle died. :(

I now have to charge batteries seperately. I will be getting the Rayovac 15 min charger.
