after I run the scan and select "fix the problem" button, right after it completely fixes it, it freezes. I got my S&D from download.com, do i need to download it from somewhere else?

-thx

When you click "Fix Problems", Spybot first creates a restore point. It takes forever and locks your PC up while it's doing it (at least for me).

You can stop that from happening. Load Spybot and go to Mode. Choose Advanced mode.

Then on the left side at the bottom choose Settings, and then Settings again. Scroll down to Main Settings and uncheck everything that starts with Create Restore Point. I kill all the Create Backups too. I don't need no stinkin backups.

I got mine from the same place, I have no problems.
Some Spyware is designed to attack Spybot S&D that could be your problem.

It's just poorly programmed, though part of that is MS's fault because the Restore Point garbage is extremely poorly designed.

Why is it always the fault of Microsoft, that is the easy answer out of a tough problem. Most of us are running Spybot S&D with out any problems. If it were MS' problem then 99% of us would be experienceing it, but 99% of us are not; So it cant be MS, lets look some where else for a soloution and not take the easy road out.

There is spyware out there designed to attack Adaware and Spybot S&D, it's the most likely culpret.
