Anyone else have issues with the latest ATI Radeon drivers?

I have an ATI Radeon 64mb DDR card and I just downloaded the latest ATI drivers (Catalyst 2.2) and it goes through the install process fine, but when Windows XP restarts, it cannot find the drivers. Any ideas?

Is it a "built by ATI" or "powered by ATI"

I tried the catalyst drivers in my Powercolor Evil Master II Radeon 8500, boy did my video really go whacky!

I then found Powercolor has its own list of new drivers, put them in and all is well 🙂

The drivers I am having these problems with are the ones that I got directly from ATI's website. Also, when you said that I need the reference drivers, are you saying to not use the drivers that I downloaded and just use these reference drivers?

My 8500DV All-In-Wonder needed both the Catalyst drivers and the capture drivers,,, this probably won't help you if you don't have the AIW card.

Make sure you grab the Capture driver. They came out with a new capture driver (August 9th) after Catalyst 2.2 (August 1st) because everyone was having this problem (me too).

Good luck!

It's weird but I'm having lockup in Outlook Express with the catalyst 2.2. May be I should try v2.1 ? Mine is the A-I-W 7500

The 2D driver is broken in the latest Catalyst 2.2's. Its known hard-crash your system when using various apps, Mozilla, Opera and a few others. I would suggest going back to the previous 2.1's until ATi makes a new release.
