So I'm taking a few core classes, Spreadsheet I, and Survey of Operating Systems this semester. I go into Spreadsheet I last week and the teacher announces that the computers are d/l'ing virus updates and that we'd have to wait a while until they finished before we could get started. I sit down at my PC and see that.......it's running a Java update!?!?!? 😕
So that took 20 minutes and then she announces that we all should start a virus scan as soon as the "virus update" finishes. It finishes on my PC just as she's walking past and she leans over me and starts.........Windows Update. (AYE CARUMBA!!) After she walked away I started the virus scan (some no-name software) and it promptly lets me know that the virus definitions are 4 months out-of-date. :disgust: So I ran it anyway. CoolWebSearch virus wreaked havoc on the school network 4 months ago and they are just now getting where they can login.
Down at the Computer Lab in the Library, a lot of students were having trouble accessing MyCompLab because when the lab techs installed Macromedia Flash Player they installed the Yahoo! Toolbar/Pop-up blocker also, which blocks the MyCompLab login screen. When I was down there I told them how to remove the pop-up blocker and that in the future there was a checkbox you uncheck when installing Flash Player. The head of the computer lab told me you couldn't install it without Yahoo Toolbar and acted like I was full of shite. I give up with these people.
