As I write this, he's still in bed, skipping his first class for the fourth time this week.

This doesn't necessarily mean he will flunk out, but I doubt it's going to help his grade. He doesn't skip it because he believes the class is easy, just because he can't make himself get out of bed. (I know this because every night he tells me "I really need to wake up for class tomorrow.") The ironic thing is he wakes up early on the weekends (while I am trying to sleep until 2p.m. or so).

Oh well... it's his choice.

P.S. - Yes, I'm just ranting because I'm jealous as hell that he can sleep later than I do even though my first class starts at 9 and his starts at 8. :|

ROFL. One of them has done it once and is on his way again. Well, the first time he dropped all his classes before he had time to fail. This time, he hasn't been to class in about a month, literally. He claims 'women troubles' -- the girl he likes has a boyfriend she won't get rid of because he won't tell her that he likes her. What a goofball (and I have told him that).

Hey, the first and sometimes the second year of college is just for fun anyways! Party, party, party! We all did it. He'll make it up later. You are only young once!

He must be a freshmen... he hasn't learned that 8 am classes and slacking just don't mix.

Hey, that used to be me! 10 years later and I'm getting ready to graduate in a year (now it's because I only attend part-time, not because of grades.) Skipping classes will get you every time.

although the guy wasn't my roomate, he lived on the same floor as me during my freshmen year. Anyway, he got expelled during spring semester for his super low GPA, which was .... drum roll .... 0.6! I was quite amazed by this number, it almost seemed surreal. The scary thing is that his parents knew nothing about it and my school was expensive as hell, so I'm sure they weren't to pleased when they learned that after spending almost $30K their beloved son was on his way out after only 6 months.

I didn't have a roommate that was close to flunking out, but my roommate did. ;)

And I was paying my own way. Only took one semester to realize how stupid I was being.

The funny thing is he typically takes a nap later in the day as well. I survive on about 5-6 hours of sleep during the weekdays, he gets about 10-11 or so. The first couple of weeks he never skipped classes.

*SIGH*

Edit:

Kranky, I dream of dropping out, but I don't really have that option since I have no job or qualifications. :)

Still, I shouldn't complain, I'm fortunate enough to have my education provided for me, so the least I can do is keep some decent grades. That's just about the ONLY thing that makes ME get out of bed in the morning. ;)

.6 is part of the square root club, but not as bad as a buddy of mine that got a buckshot one quarter. Not sure how, but he managed to tell the dean something to keep himself in school.

One roommate I had needed at least 10 hours of sleep every night, 12 on the weekend. Now in the Highway Patrol he's lucky to get 6 :)

He always studied though. I was the one who skipped classes every now and then. My favorite to skip was computers my freshman year because we had Dos 3.3 and old programs like that. Our first day of class was learning how to copy and delete files. I never went back. Sadly enough, I finished the final exam first and didn't miss a single point in that class :) For Aids class, whatever health that was, my teacher skipped almost as much as I did, so I saw no reason to go or buy the damn $50 book. Why bother when the library had the previous edition for free. Funny thing about that class was even after skipping 50% of the classes I got the same grade as my roommate who went everyday and actually studied. I love it :)

To fail out of school, you REALLLLY have to try to do that. Even naturally being dumb or not caring you can get at least a 1.0

I got expelled my first term, but I appealed and got back in. One thing I learned is always keep fighting, appeal everything, repeatedly.

Funny thing is that I was the delligent one. My roomate did and still does sleep close to 16 hours a day. He is only up from 9pm-4am. I am amazed he is still in school. When I woke up this morning he was in bed...when I come home from work and class, he'll still be in bed. What did he do the night before? Watch TV and ate Del Taco.

He just went to bed, which is early for him. If he doesn't get up early enough tomorrow, he's just a lost cause.

Maybe he sensed I was typing about him. :)

After a bad break up, a heavy amount of alcohol, a large does of self pitty, and a diagnosed depression, I managed to skip 75% of my classes, loose a 5k scholarship and pull a whopping 1.72 GPA for the semester.

Way to go vi_edit!

It's amazing that I still managed to pull off a 3.4 GPA overall. Imagine what it would have been if I hadn't fuxored up :(

I had a 1.73 after the first semester. Now I'm at a 3.6 something.

At least you pulled through vi_edit, that's an achievement! :)

After thinking about it for a bit, I think one of the main reasons I'm motivated to try hard is because my brother got damn good grades in college.

Then he got into an excellent law school.

I can't let him top me too bad. :)
