Alright, here's the deal. We were an Army family and my mother got divorced because my father was a dolt and had an affair. Anyway, she re-married a guy who had three kids from two previous marriages. All was good for a while.

As we grew up into the teenage years, my step-sister grew increasingly odd. As we were a family of eight in government quarters, my brothers and I shared two bedrooms and she always had her own. She was always weird, but this $hit just takes the cake.

She has come back after nearly 10 years and accused my mother (her step mother) of making her life a living hell. She's made wild accusations like my mother and my step-brother (her biological brother) put dish soap in her soup for dinner once. Or my mother made her eat jelly-bean and butter sandwiches. Or my brothers and I killed her hampster(s) and my mother instructed us to do so and on and on it goes (I will admit that my cat managed to kill at least two of them, but she always left her door open with two cats in the house).

Anyway, she recently called my mother and told her she would speak to her again, if, and only if, my mother rendered a written apology to every single thing that my step-sister says that my mother and the rest of the kids in the house did to her. She told my mom that if she didn't do so, she could count her out as a daughter for the rest of her life.

Now keep in mind also that she blames EVERYTHING on my mother. Her inability to find a keep a man (she's 28 now and never had a serious relationship with a guy) and her general malaise with life. Quite frankly she trumps herself up the way that Dr. Evil did in his therapy session with Scotty in Austin Powers #1 (I invented the question mark, etc.).

I say she's off her fvcking rocker. I've conversed with all my brothers, to include her own blood brother and all of them say she's full of $hit, but she believes every word of what she's saying. We were a close knit family and everyone knew everyone else's business. Anyone else have a similar situation in the family?

Wow, that's, um.. yeah.

I have 2 older sisters. I don't always get along with the 2nd one, but it's not that bad. Sounds like your step-sis needs to see a psychologist. I mean... her hamsters from yore?!

My older brother did something like this, though not to that extreme. He called up one day blaming my parents for most of his problems, including that they didn't encourage him to be social back during high school (~10 years+ ago). In reality he was full of crap, but it took him a few months to come back to reality on his own. The amusing part is that they had tried to kick his ass off the computer during high school, but it was all he wanted to do, and resulted in him moving to SJ, Cali for sysadmin/tools development, which he loves..

Sounds like she may have schizophrenia, or possibly another mental disorder. Sad stuff because it's not well understood and sufferers are looked down upon by stupid people for being different.

Anyway, one of my stepsisters has two kids from different passing boyfriends and a minimum wage job, the other wasn't sure which black guy was the father of her first kid - I couldn't care less about skin color, but not knowing who your kids father is just cries out "Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!" Her more old-fashioned parents were less than pleased.

I agree with Gurck.

I know someone from highschool who was totally normal, pretty intelligent actually. However, after college he developed some MAJOR schizophrenia and acted totally paranoid, etc. It was freaky.

OR the possibility could be drugs, but I'm leaning towards mental illness.
