Anyone else hate those Nascar commecials?

The ones where they mock other sports? Its ridiculous. The football one was bad enough...because football is considered a "tough" sport. What these people making these commercials aren't quite grasping is this: Sure, in a huge crash like the ones in the commercials, there is a higher likelihood of getting hurt. However, how many crashes like this does a driver get in in his career? Compare that to a football player's risk of injury almost any time he steps out on the field. Now the baseball one is even worse...because its a ludicrous comparision, nobody ever said baseball was a tough sport. And no matter what they say...no, nascar drivers are not tough.

Not tough? Let's see you get in a race car for 3 1/2 hours that is 135°, needing mental concentration 100% of the time, and G forces trying to push you out of the seat.

God I hate ignorant people

Actually, it's not even really worth it to try and discuss how Nascar is a sport with all these braindead people..

Nobody said racecar driving isn't hard or mentally challenging. Dude, the reason Deeko and others are pissed at the commercials is because it's a racecar driver talking about how much tougher he is than a football player. Get real.

Put your little rolling eyes away. Ok, allow me to elaborate for the truly ignorant: they are not tough compared to football players. Or hockey players. Or any other contact sport. Dispute that, and then check into the nearest mental institution.

sure, its a sport, sure, it takes talent, but the drivers are not the big tough guys they are trying to be in the commercials, and it is exceedingly boring to watch...theres no point in watching anything but the highlight reel.

While yes, football players take more physical injury most of the time, when was the last time someone died from an injury in a football game? And as for not being tough, let's see you drive your car into a concrete wall at 150 mph and see how you like it.

Several have died in practice, one was pretty recent. I'm not sure if any have died in a game...but there have been practice fatalities. Argument one out the window...on to number two. Read my first post. Yes, there is a pretty high chance of injury in a crash like that, but look at how much safety gear is in those cars, and like I said before, how many of those crashes do you actually get in?

Despite all the safety equipment, the driver still takes a massive amount of force from a crash. While some drivers rarely crash, others crash almost on a weekly basis. And how severe the crash looks doesn't show how bad it really is on the driver, and often times the 'big' crashes are the easiest to take. It's the crashes that involve pancaking the wall, head on, etc. (the ones they don't show) that can injure.

Requiring endurance does not make it a sport or else gaming would be one.

Wouldn't they have to be driving across the track to hit a wall head on and take the full force of the 150mph impact? I guess they could be trying to relieve the boredom...

Bah, I don't feel like fighting over this either. Nascar drivers are true athletes and they have to work out all the time and practice just like other sports.

Ever heard of getting spun by another car and getting turned into the wall?

It is all what you are into...

Sure some see nascar as people just driving in circles, Just like I see basketball as people just trying to put a basketball into a little hoop ... big deal. Football can also be simplified as people just trying to get a little leather ball across a line in the grass... What is the sport in this??

It is all what you get yourself into.

BUt I also like to look at it this way .... Football, Baseball and Basketball are all child games .... Nascar is an adult game
