Anyone else hate the Overstock.com "O" commercial?

Yeah, the woman might be cute and all, but man, that TV commercial irks me. Maybe it's the dopey guitar music that just doesn't fit. It just seems so small-market. It's all about the Doh!

I guess any TV ad that breaks through the clutter can't be all bad for the client, but sheesh...enough, already.

Thanks...I feel better now.

the best commercials are the ones that leave a lasting impression. They are selling their brand/name. If you remember it long after, they've done their job.

I guess...but everyone knows the Aflac Duck, and I'm sure many aren't quite sure exactly what Aflac is.

Ahh but the point is that suddenly you're choosing an insurance provider and your mind does the following when looking at a list of companies:
Blah, blah, blah, blah, AFLAC!, blah, blah

i've honestly really never thought all that much about the commercial. Any commercial for that matter.

heheh well, the fact that you're reading the OT forum tells me that seemingly banal topics do matter, be them commercials or otherwise.

You guys remember the Terry Tate office linebacker commercial from a couple super bowls ago ? It was for Reebok. How did I remember ? Cause that commercial left a long-lasting impression.

I can practically hear the AFLAC voice in my head, but your post is the first time I've ever linked it with "Insurance Provider". Without that link, I am not going to think AFLAC when thinking of insurance.

Likewise....

I have that commercial saved, I've watched it a ton of times, it is hillarious, but I never realized it was for Reebok. For all it mattered it coulda been a Staples commercial.

I'm talking about the reverse process. Not seeing AFLAC and thinking insurance, but seeing a list of insurance providers and your eye jumping to AFLAC because it's familiar despite the fact that you had no idea what they did until right now.

This is intentional. They are marketing to the middle aged housewives that are pent up and spending their husbands money. The same ones that shop qvc.
