Though likely not in your area as well (available in NY, NJ, and CT), Fresh Direct is also another option and is very cost effective. Delivery charge is $4.95, and prices are very reasonable - often the same (or in cases, less) than those found n the store.

In the past, Fresh Direct offered $75.00 in free groceries with no additional purchase required. Imagine the offer has since changed, but still believe at least some promotion still exists - though perhaps for a reduced amount.

i'm in CA, but that is definetely a good deal. $5 buys your time, even without the convenience. i can't remember exactly what safeway charges, but i think it might be $15 or so.

I hate the checkers that love to comment on every little thing you buy, "Juicy fruit -- yeah thats on sale, I like Big Red better", on and on and on. Also, I used to work in a grocery store back in my high school days to pick up some cash -- so it also brings back bad memories to walk into a grocery store.

lol...customers aren't always the greatest either..

'Can I help you?'

"Can I cash a check?"

(note: huge sign: "CHECK CASHING")

....

:disgust:

And also..the famous "You look like you need something to do."
Actually, no. :(

mine tonight were flirting with each other. this would be ok. i don't mind if people want to flirt. but this pair wanted me to be PART of their little game. like he'd be talking and she'd say to me "do you hear anything? i don't hear anything." "will you smack her for me?"

no, but i'll pound your faces in with my Thin and Crispy Crust frozen pizza, bitch.

Definitely hate the grocery store. What a waste, the truck brings the groceries to the store, they have to stock the shelves, then I take things off the shelf -> into cart, from cart -> conveyer belt, ring out, they have to put in bags into my cart. Then cart to car, bags out of cart into car, drive home, bags into house, put groceries away, sheesh! Can the trucks just dump something out front and cut out the middleman? :p

i second the conspiracy thing. there must be something going on. i spend $50 at the grocery store, then two days later, i feel like there's no food around the house. just a bunch soda and juice.

The self check out at Albertsons is starting to piss me off. No matter what you do you get that stupid unexpected item in bagging area error causing delays checking out.

trader joes and whole foods are different from harris teeter. Ive been to all three.

harris teeter does not specialize in the organic foods. in fact, Id consider it the target of supermarkets. i have a harris teeter across the street from the apartment and its open 24 hours. i love going there late when no one is there. i also checkout with the self checkout lane.

PSA: dont self checkout when you buy alot of veggies. they dont have upc's and its a pain in the ass to look up all the codes.
