i refuse to use AOL or AIM... I always used ICQ in the past because it had features far before any other IM client like full IM and Chat logging, with a searchable database of message history... also file transfers and off-line messages (people can send u a message even if you are offline, and you will get it once you sign back on)
however it grew too bloated and crappy once AOL took over ICQ. I've since migrated to MSN messenger (actually Windows Messenger built into XP, I believe there is a slight difference?)
with the addition of MSN Plus! extensions which kills all advertisement and other BS so its lean, clean and mean (being built into the OS helps here). Plus! Extensions also logs all my messages, however I still prefer ICQ's searchable database over msn plus!'s logging to straight text file.
the only thing missing for me now is offline messages... I used ICQ basically instead of email, but now I cant with msn..
anyway.. AOL is Satan.
