Well my local "agent" does a # system that they feel is "fair" for everybody. No matter when you get there, before they sell em. They hand out #'s to everbody, and then begin at a random # they pull out of a hat. So when I sent my friend Nicole there for Pearl Jam tickets. She was third inline, but ended up being #35 overall. We sat in the very back of The Tweeter Center (at least we even got seats :|), because of this.
As for their "fair" system. Some lady who showed up at the last minute got the first tickets, and then promptly walked down the line of people saying how she just bought em to make a buck, and asked $150 a ticket, because they were 4th row. She sold em all right then and there.
I wouldn't have given her a penny, and thankfully Nicole thinks like me. I'll take the $30 back of the bus seats thank you. :|
I think this is sooooo wrong, because this doesn't allow die hard fans to get great seats, without paying a fortune (scalping is legal in RI, and there are tons of ticket agencies that do a big markup on em). Let's face it, unless I'm a huge fan. I'm not gonna wait there for hours, and the ones that do, deserve the good seats IMO.
It's just like when I hear a contest on the radio, unless I like the band they're giving the seats/CD's away for. I'm not calling. There's even a local DJ who asks questions that only a true fan will know. They're not super hard ones, but unless you know the band. You won't know em, and he feels, like me, that the real true fans deserve the seats.
For instance if this were a Pink Floyd reunion (w/ Roger Waters I mean), or a Paul McCartney concert. I would have been outside the Fleetcenter last night freezing my arse off, because those are shows I would kill to have good seats for. U2, while I love em, are not worth freezing over.
