I get lots of spam IMs.

Just ignore them and make sure you arent listed by checkign the options in your profile.

When I took out the ability for other people to search for me the numbers of spams dropped a whole lot.

I've only been randomly messaged on AIM once, just the other day actually.. Still have it in ICQ message history, got a good laugh out of it with a friend. ;)

You know something's wrong and really serious when LordJezo of all persons is advising you to block your profile and ignore the spammers 'cuz he does that too. So, don't get excited about a random IM from AIM kids. :p

mmm actually i know a lot of companies use IM or ICQ to communicate with each other w/in the office. So not quite just for kids. It can be a tool.

I can see why you would think that, but I kinda disagree..

There are people of all age groups on all instant messengers, it's just that the immature ones are the only ones you notice due to the spam, etc.

It's never bothered me, certainly not enough to avoid them all together anyway.. The service they provide is just too great.

Would be like giving up your phone simply due to telemarketers, heh.

EDIT: clicked again...yep, I was wrong...those were ponytails, not pigtails. Now was her hair blonde or brown....hmmm....not sure...

Nah, AIM is vital in the dorms. I can talk to everyone and know who is in their rooms, etc.
