Anyone else get rank neck burn from collared shirts?

I've tried different laundry detergents, softeners, etc. It doesn't make a difference. If I put on a collared shirt in the morning and go to work, by noon I've got so much irritation on each side of my neck that I can't take it. By the end of an 8 hour work day, it's almost to the point where blood is reaching the surface of my skin because of the shirts rubbing against my neck all damn day.

Anyone else suffer from this, or have any ideas on a way to work around this?

My work dress code pretty much requires me to where a collared shirt...

Nope. Courdoroy collar rips the skin right off my neck though. Such a shame because I love those Lee's jean jackets.

Be careful with the starch and don't get it inside the collar
Try a 100% cotton
If that doesn't work try 100% linen

This happens to me on my more expensive collared shirts. They tend to keep their shapes longer and wrinkle less. Stiffer shirts seem to do this to me. My french-collared shirts kill if I wear it an entire day!

I've tried different softeners, detergents and all of that. It doesn't seem to change anything.

when you state 'collared shirt' do you mean you wear a tie with your shirt, or it's a pullover/buttondown shirt with your collar open?

Try Tide Free or other no-perfume detergent. Stay away fom fabric softeners and dryer sheets. Unbutton the top button under your tie.

Are you positive? I get itchy skin from polyester/cotton blend shirts.

Hit up your local Whole Foods and see if you can find some natural-base detergent.

No tie (thank god). Just a regular dress shirt, top button undone (collar open).

Rank? Do the neck burn smell?

That's really really disgusting.

Anyway, I've never experienced anything like that. Do you sweat at all?

Sorry, by "rank" I meant painfully annoying. There is no smell, or if there is I'm so used to it that I can't smell it anymore. :D

I don't generally sweat all that much.

that blows.

Yeah...it sux.

It only happens on the sides of my neck where the skin actually makes contact with the shirt...but what's weird is that the back of my neck never seems to be bothered at all.
