Anyone else get excellent SLI Oblivion performance?

Basically, I was shocked at how well Oblivion ran with my specs below. With everything max, 1920 x 1200, HDR, and so on, I get a whopping 60-160fps indoors (on average 80fps) and outdoors a mad 60+ fps. So after getting such high fps, I naturally went about tewaking for better visual clarity, so I doubled the number of trees, shrubbery, texture and plantation types, and distance grid, trees in distance etc etc and now my outside fps is still a very decent 40+ fps. Ranges from 35-55 fps. majority of the time its high 40's.

Oblivion must really be optimised for SLI!!

Anyway, here are some pics.

Looking nice! Do you like HDR w/o antialiasing better than Bloom + AA? I'm using one 7800GT SE (will have my first 7900GT OC step-up tomorrow, second for SLI coming in a week's time) and must say that outside performance is pretty crappy. Indoors it looks and runs very nice, for the most part. Can you tell me exactly what tweaks you have implemented and your draw distance, fade, etc..? I am extremely interested.

Perhaps it's just those pics, but that sword close up looks like crap compared to on my 360.

What drivers are you using? I only get less than half that performance at the same settings with my 7800gts. Do you have anything other than AA disabled/downgraded? Do you think it could be my processor? I have a venice @ 1.8 (was at 2.4, but then the temps got too high).

Wow. Those are some good frame rates nib. How about when you are outside and there are 3 or 4 characters around and you are fighting - what kind of frame rates do you get then? Just curious. I'm trying to decide whether to go SLI or not. I've heard from a lot of people on the forums that they are having trouble getting good performance with their SLI rig. Thanks.

Well, they kind of stay around the 35-55 fps mark.
I just fought two people in the opening level, a crazy woman with a club and a guy with a bow and arrow. Didnt really notice much slowdown to be honest. maybe 5fps difference.

I agree that SLI is a bit hit and miss, but considering two 7900 GT's were only about £40 difference between a single 7900 GTX I thought I'd go for it.
I already have a X1900 XTX, which is currently on ebay. It doesnt perform half as well as my SLI set up, and the frame rate drops are far more sudden.

Using Xtreme G 84.25's.

And I'd say it was your processor alright.
I think dual core might make more a difference in this game then most.

Your numbers are pretty surprising considering some people with SLI 7800GTX512's and SLI 7900GTX's are reporting worse performance than that. Can you elaborate on your setup in terms of driver settings (driver version, AF, optimizations, etc) as well as any .ini tweaks you have applied?

Do you know any places with good xbox360 screenshots? I'd like to see how they compare to my weak 7800gt

Ok drivers

Xtreme G 84.25
Settings, all sliders etc maxed
Self shadowing off (this just looks plain rubbish)
grass shadows off
HDR on (no AA)
1920 x 1200
Character, item and so on fade, at about half way
Draw distance and spectacular distance maxed
Quality and performance settings default at 'performance'.

Tweaks:

Ugridload - 7 (more landscape texture loaded up)
Trees loaded - Doubled
Trees in the distance - Doubled
Different plantation types - Max variations
FOV 90
And a few others I cant remember.

But all decrease performance with the exception of FOV 90.

Without the tweaks I get mad fps, outside around 50-70fps, and inside 70-160fps.
Currently I'm getting (with tweaks) 35-60fps out doors and 60-160fps indoors.

So it's all gravy. When I get back tomorrow, I'll try out 'Quality' set in control panel and see how much of a difference it makes.
But I'm perfectly happy with how it looks and plays now to be honest.

Compare these to mine.

To be honest, the 360 version doesnt look like it has any more AA then mine does.
And considering mine doesnt even run AA. thats suprising.
Then again, hi-res makes up for it.

Thanks.

Image quality seems less crisp than mine. Although I've been running 1920x1080. I'll have to see Oblivion on the XBox360 in person.
