Anyone else finding Chrome on Android chewing battery unlike before?

In the last couple of weeks I updated Chrome on my Nexus 5 (running Android 4.4.4). Since then I've found my phone chewing battery like no-one's business for hours after I last ran Chrome (and sure enough, it has reported much longer CPU activity than it was actually being used for).

For now I'm using Firefox on my phone primarily and I'll try Chrome again perhaps when the next update comes in.

I find any web browser to be mowing through the battery unless I stick to mobile sites.

Maybe so, but what I'm referring to is after one has finished browsing.

I'm running Android 5.1.1 on my Nexus 5 and my battery life is 1 day if i'm using the following apps:
* Waze
* Soundcloud
* Facebook
* Whatsapp

You could disable Chrome and use another browser and compare your battery life or install a battery monitor and check what is eating all that battery.
