Anyone else find that iCloud works inconsistently?

Im finding that all too often stuff just doesn't sync very seamlessly between my iPhone, iPad and Mac. Sometimes I create reminders in one place, and they don't appear everywhere else. Sometimes they appear hours later. It almost never checks off a reminder on other devices when I check it on on. Same with notes and calendar appts.

Sometimes iMessages appear everywhere, sometimes only on my phone, almost never on my Mac.

I don't know if it's related as I don't really use anything else that much - but my iCloud mail, and friends who use iCloud as their primary email, seem to have a lot of outages since switching from Mobileme. It's a serious problem at times as when I'm sending to an afflicted account I don't get an NDR or DDR - and it looks like it's the same situation for people sending emails to my account. It just turns up hours later without any other untoward signs.

Having said that I don't really have any expectations of Apple services or products to work properly when it comes to actually relying on them as an important service, so I don't. God help people who do - though I doubt most realise when a service is not working.

The biggest beef I have with iCloud is that, when using it for a backup, it only backs up low resolution copies of your image, not your actual image itself.

I restored my iPhone from an iCloud backup after I was having issues with backing it up to my computer (only later did I realize it was Microsoft Security Essentials flagging it as an infection). When my photos synced back, most of them were low quality versions of my original images (some dating back to my original iPhone 3G 4 years ago).

I will definitely not be using the service for backup purposes anymore, which sucks really, cause its an obvious solution.

i don't know about the backup but most times my photos sync to my macbook's iphoto via icloud. few weeks ago i printed out a bunch for some old people who still like paper photos and the quality was better than a DSLR photo they have

for documents i still prefer dropbox. the version backup is awesome and saved me last night
