Anyone else find NYE depressing?

I'm usually a pretty upbeat person, but I tend to find New Year's Eve depressing. Partially because I almost never have good plans for New Year's Eve--for four years I was home from college and not near all my friends, and since then I just haven't had a good party to go to. Also, since it's a day of looking back on the year, but also a huge social day, it makes me think of my social failures in the last year. Failed relationships or missed opportunities usually, highlighted by never having a girlfriend on NYE to ring in the new year...

Anyone else feel this way? Misery loves company :)

The gun fire started at 6pm tonight. Six hours ahead of schedule. I think someone peaked to soon. Then again, maybe it's one of the local geezers who's too tired to stay up til midnight and decided to get done with the shooting so he could get to bed at a reasonable hour.

Go to a popular bar. It will be packed and you'll get to kiss plenty of girls at midnight. I'm serious. There are plenty of girls out there feeling exactly the same thing so get out there and answer their prayers.

lol I'm the same way, I live with my parents and they're the most unpredictable when it comes to holiday plans. They don't really, plan. Some years we do stuff like go watch a movie or actually go out, other years like this year, it's nothing. Just a normal day.

Oh well, more coding time I guess.

I can finally test to see how my date/time class handles leap seconds. It better work since I may have to wait long before testing again. :p

If my mom turns on that vacuum one more time, I'm gona go insane. I don't understand her. when I vacuum the house it takes me a whooping 15 minutes.

She's been at it for over an hour, vacuum on and off. Gahhhhhhh! I need to move out of here. This spring hopefully. Got a bit over 20 grand to play with as far as a downpayment goes.

Yes.. during the last 4 years I've had a pretty exciting life but for some reason December is always the month I'm staying in my Dad's basement waiting for my next job/home/trip to happen. It is only for a few weeks but it always includes New Years Eve. It could be worse though the last two I was stood up but this one I just don't have any plans.

A lot of people see it as a new start...I see it as beginning at the bottom of the ladder again.

At least many are predicting the economy to begin its slow healing process in 2009.

Pretty much, unless you're really unapproachable-looking. In which case it's better to stay home than have your feelings trashed.
