Anyone else having a hard time finding a job? I have tried everywhere that is still open, and no one is hiring. Our local McDonald's isn't even hiring because of over staffing it seems.

Im not talking about career jobs either, just minimum wage jobs.

You might be over qualified if you speak english. Try to mix it up next time.

Talk to people - there is plenty of work out there. Walk-in's have been extremely hard to find. If you expect to find a job by walking-in, be sure to bring knee pads.

I'm sure you would have no trouble finding something about 30-35 miles north of Kankakee.

Given his spelling of ridiculous a mastery of English doesn't seem to be a problem.

I know, I think I might move up north a bit in the fall. Its just finding the momentum to do it.

The county I live in has almost 20% unemployment right now...Companies are getting applications and resumes from accountants with bachelor's degrees and even master's degrees...for bookkeeping positions.
One of my accounting professors is a CPA with a local firm. She says the business is hurting here. MOST of the local CPA firms have been laying off for the first time in over 20 years. Her firm has laid off more than 20% of its staff.

The bay area is doing better...but still hurting.

Andrew, you're in Kankakee? I spent a couple of summers there back in the 60's. Nice place...sort of.

LOL, no I am actually 12 miles North of Kankakee in a smaller township. I would need a .45 if I were to live in Kankakee now.

Anyways, damn 20% unemployment must be horrible. I think it is something like 10% here now.

mid-summer is a damn horrible time to find a minimum wage job, they're pretty much all snapped up in May as kids start getting out of school.

try again in late-August, part-timers tend to quit in droves as school starts back up.

unemployment will be over 10% in calif.soon. where's all the "pain and suffering" media action lines we saw 2 years ago when unemployment was a hella lot less then it is now?? the difference an election can make..amazing isn't it??
