anyone else feeling overwhelmed? 865/875 .....

hi 🙂
i am starting to really feel overwhelmed with all the info and boards to chose from all of a sudden between 865/875 and the features. i am planning on buying a new board next week and am trying to figure out what is best.

what makes it worse is that it seems like every manufaturer has 5 types of 865 boards running through the markets and nearly the same with the 875's.

what i want is a extremely stable board that down the line i can upgrade to the 800/3+ gig p4's and atleast the 2700 drr (i have p4 2.26(533) and 2 -512 drr 333.

also i am in canada and havent seen any albatrons. so what i do see is asus, abit, gigabyte, msi (dont like msi that much) and intel and i think one place has acer open.

i would like the int gigalan but isnt a deal breaker and i would like raid options. i need usb but can care less for firewire and any other cards. as dont need or want to pay extra for onboard graphics.

can anyone suggest a few boards to take a look at? i see so many threads about so many boards i get like i said overwhelmed.

thanks for any suggestions 🙂

I'm feeling underwhelmed by the dearth of reviews.

Just start narrowing it down based on what you need. CSA GigaLan is on few 865 boards. PE has no graphics. Consider whether o'erclocking is important and a bunch can be eliminated. Likewise those with poor support or are not available to you. Price range will be a major factor too.

The Abit IS-7 may fit the bill because it has some RAID and also seems to be fitted with a GigaLan chip (though not CSA), in the initial supply.

I wish there were more reviews.. especially comparisons. I would like to see how the albatron competes with asus and abit, but there are no comparisons yet.

only abits i see listed on local store sites are the 875 boards 🙁

reading up on the asus board atm. god will take a year to read through all the threads 🙁

sounds like me waiting and reading and waiting and reading and posting about the granite bay chipset last year...

you know what you need ( or want 🙂 )... just get all your specs up to speed and wait ( if you can... ) until the dust settles a bit... i didnt... but thats another thread you'll have to read 😉
