i always try to aim for 6 or 7 hrs of sleep, but sometimes, like last night, i can only manage about 4 hrs. and now i've started to notice that when i only get 4 hours sleep i'm more refreshed and i can get out of bed faster... i don't know, maybe 7 hrs is too much for me? does this happen to anyone else?

People often forget that consistent sleep is just as important as how much sleep you get. Going to bed and getting up at the same time everyday is much healthier than going to bed and getting up at random times. If I consistently went to bed at midnight and got up at six everyday, my body would get used to six hours of sleep. You can't get decent sleep if you've been pulling all nighters and then decide to sleep for 8 hours one day.

I find that when i feel my best when I've had one or two weeks of 8 hour nights straight going to bed at 11pm and getting up at 7am (I screw up the weekends because my friends alway want me to go out). When that happens, I no longer need coffee at work! However when i starting going out durring the week and screwing up my sleep cycle, i find myself more tired and drinking coffee to function.

i find that less sleep can be good for me for times....like today, i'm on only 2 hours of sleep, but i'm feeling just fine and ready to go do most anything. although, let my head hit the pillow for a second, and i'm sure i'll be out like a light:confused:

I seems I have to sleep in on the weekends. That way I'm sure to be all upside down by Monday.

I've only been getting about 4 to 5 hours of sleep on the weekdays now for about 2 months, and at the beginning I was completely spent all day, but now, I'm completely refreshed. I guess I got used to it.

The less sleep you get, the easier it is to wake up but the faster you burn out.

The more sleep you get, the harder it is to wake up but the longer you stay energized.

There are exceptions to this, if you sleep an insane ammount of hours, like 15 hours straight, you will continue to be tired all day long.

I found out that I need exactly 8 hours of sleep. 7 hrs doesn't cut it and makes me really fatigued the entire day. At 9 hrs and more, I get a damn headache in the back of my head and can't function for the rest of the day. I guess that's my built-in check to make sure I am productive:)

I get a mere 2.5 hours of sleep per night, which is insufficient for me. So when you see me, I'm always tired.

In HS I got 3-3.5 hours per night. Now in college I get 6-10 hours per night and I don't feel much more awake. Overall my sleep patterns are extremely erratic. I don't like it but that is how it is when you are a night owl. ;)

sleep is in cycles. 4 hour cycles. 4 hours is ok, 8 hours is also good. if you wake up between the cycles, you feel like crap.

being an insomniac I've come to adjusted myself real well to 2-4hr sleeps per night. On weekends I take 12hr sleeps usually to make up for lost sleep during the weekdays. I don't do much on weekends so I can afford the hours.
