Yes - we are all tired of hearing about a company that has, maybe, 10% of the market share in PCs. And, it getting trounced in smartphone sales.

I would love for one of my products to take the "trouncing" the iPhone is experiencing.

nothing to do with being vested in apple. i just get annoyed when people claim to dislike something so much, yet they will post pages and pages of reasons why they dislike something. typically when i don't like something, i don't waste any time on it.

the vocal minorities hating on apple gets annoying. and it's not just apple. it is ANYTHING that is popular. just like the Transformers 3 thread. i'd say like 90% of the posts in there were from people saying how shitty the movie is going to be or is yet they did not even go see it. but they wanted everyone to know just how much they hate it.

it can get annoying when you are trying to read on a subject that you enjoy and have a real discussion about it, but you only find that content while reading through 90% of the thread bashing said content.

it's not just this forum, it is the internet in general. it is a peeve of mine.

glad you've taken notice, my job is done.

One of the reasons I rarely come to Off Topic now. See the "Who likes NASCAR" thread for another perfect example.

Nah, it is just an example of emotional clouding.

He was only an innovator on the corporate level. Just about everything else he did could have come by, in time, under another name. AAMOF, many of the things that people attribute to him actually came from some of the people under him. This does not define "innovator".

Does that mean he was useless? No. But he was a profit minded cheap ass dick about a lot of things and to a lot of people. THAT is what made Apple money. That and the fact that this man who testified that he was "infertile" to avoid child support payments wore a turtle neck to feel more "friendly" to the general public lets you know what he was good at.

Presentation and PR more than just about anything else. He sold tech to the technophobe.

But the one thing that most fanbois need to come to terms with is that he did NOT break down any walls to introduce a whole new world. He did not come up with electronic transmission of data or voice. He did not do the transistor or any real component part of the machine. He did not invent the mouse.

But somehow saying this, and saying that he cannot be compared to Edison gets so many people in an uproar that they wet their pants and twitter it on their iPhones.

Enough already.

The guys dead and you are giving him more love than that other guy that got 5 minutes of world press after dying of pancreatic cancer (same as Steve!) 2 weeks before he got the Nobel Prize.

Man we are so disoriented in our appellations of worth and idolization.
