I'm just worried because I have to ship my current HD and it's going to be a problem if I haven't received my new HD by the 29th.

I swore off UPS months ago. I ordered a Golden Orb that they deleivered to the wrong address which was on the total opposite side of town. When I checked the tracking page and saw it was delivered I went outside and looked all over the place thinking they might have left it somewhere while I was at work. After an hour of searching I called them to see if they could tell me where the driver left it. I waited on the phone while the CSR checked and then he came back and said "the driver didn't leave it anywhere, the woman who livs there signed for it." Huh? I said, I live alone so there was no woman there to sign for it. I then asked what address it had been deleivered to and the guy told me blah, blah, blah, East Tenth Place. Well my address is blah, blah, blah East Tenth Street. He then laughed and said "looks like the driver deleivered it to the wrong place, you will need to go get it." After asking him if he was kidding and hearing that he indeed was not I asked if the driver could get it and bring it to me the next day. The CSR said no and that as far as UPS was concerned the delivery had been made. Nevermind the fact that East Tenth Place is nowhere near me and is in fact 15 miles away. At that point the yelling and cursing began. I told him what a POS company UPS was and that they could go to hell if they thought I was going looking for the package. He laughed, told me good luck and then hung up. At that point I was ready to drive to wherever the hell UPS is and kick everyone's ass. Luckily I had a date that night and decided tail was worth more than a damn Golden Orb. The next day I called the company that I had ordered from and let them know what happened. They told me they would ship out another Orb first thing and try to collect from UPS. Later that day when I got home a little old lady had called and left a message saying she had a package that she thought was for me. Just as I was about to call her my doorbell rang and it was here with the package. I felt like crap that she had driven all that way to bring it to me but as it turns out her sister lived about 4 blocks from me and she was on her way to take her to the grocery store. To make a long story longer.....I have never used UPS since and will not purchase from someone who doesn't give me the option of using a different company to ship.

shinerburke: that was pretty messed up what UPS did to you...all my experiences with them have been good though...what one guy did to you messed up the whole company's rep for you, i'd be pretty pissed off too...that was pretty nice of the lady to drive to your house...that proves there are still nice people in this world :D

Here's my UPS horror story. I needed to get a cd from Rochester NY to Chicago in three days. I decided to ship it 2 day air just to make sure it got their on time. It usually takes 2-3 days by ground, but I didn't want to take the risk. The cd was needed for an install and the appointment was set up about 2 months before. If they didn't have the cd they wouldn't install the new hardware. Anyways, two days later when the cd was suppose to arrive, there was nothing. Called UPS and they said that I should wait until about 7 PM. I had talked to the company where the cd was going and UPS driver had already been there for the daily pickup and delivery. I started to get worried and called UPS back again around 8 PM and was told they didn't have a clue as to where the package was at. The online tracking showed the package to be in Chicago. Well after a week of phone calls, a missed hardware install and the next appointment was to be in three weeks ( as the company would lose money everyday), I decided to ship another copy by fedex. I tried to get the insurance money back from UPS and they kept on fighting it saying that the package might show up. Three weeks later, they find the package in California. WTF! No explanation or anything. I will never ship UPS again. :|

UPS sucks!!! I forgot to mention that I have a friend that used to work for them and he says they routinely mis-deliver packages and tell the people to contact the company they ordered whatever from to put a trace on it and then UPS will look into it. He now works for FedEx and he says that while they to have problems that the whole operation tends to be "cleaner" from top to bottom.

Well I've had a pretty good experience with UPS for the last few years I've been using em. I suppose it has to do with me personally knowing my driver, Leo. He's a cool guy and always delivers my stuff on time with a smile. He even brought my family some cookies last year for christmas.

Ohhh yah, he always leaves my packages inside my door in the winter time (I live in Alaska) even though "OFFICIALLY" he isn't supposed to open the door. I don't even have to sign one of those "I give permission to leave the package, BLAH BLAH...." slips.

Am I the only one who has a cool driver?

This year I've had two packages placed on my porch while the tracking site said they were still at the originating depot. I figure, once I get a tracking number, x number of days from wherever the vendor is located and I start looking for my goodie.

I know my UPS driver personally too... he used to deliver to where i went to school, then where i went to work.. now he works the easy shift that has mostly homes.. no businesses... He delivers same time every day (when he makes deliveries here) ... but...

Where i work now uses UPS to ship packages to customers... and i'd say a good 40% get screwed up. All the packages we ship go with an "Adult Signature Required" sticker... but the 40% that get messed up, are usually left with no signature... driver release, and are almost always the wrong address when we put a package trace.
