Played this over lunch with a friend. The Wii motion controls aren't great (you're much better off holding the wiimote sideways and just using it as a regular controller), and using the balance board is completely useless (don't even bother trying to make it work well), but other than that the game is fun as hell. We were having a blast playing, and the 2 player Vs. mode is fun too. Bummer there's no online play though. But still, its well worth the price of admission.

Howd they screw up the balance board support? I don't understand. It's like adding 2+2.

I've been playing it for a bit, but soda popinski keeps kicking my ass.

Part of me is disappointed - this isnt a new punch out game by any stretch...this is an enhanced remake. Not only are most of the fighters the same, but they even fight with the exact same patterns. Its more akin to the final fantasy remakes where they redo the graphics, update the interface, and throw in a new dungeon.

OTOH, I dig enhanced remakes, and this is one of the best ever. But they should have done more with it.

Theyre completely different. Wii sports boxing was trying to do a 1:1 thing. Punch out controls are just waggles emulating buttons. The best way to play is to just turn the controller sideways and play NES style. The motion controls dont really add anything.

why are you disappointed, did you not read any reviews? they all praised the game for exactly why you were disappointed. It's a remake, bringing gamers some nostalgia. Every review went out of their way to mention "recalling the old patterns."

I'm disappointed because I've had it for about 2 days and I'm already bored of it...because I've played this game already 20 years ago. And on top of that, it's a game thats so rote its exactly the same every time you play it. I'm not really feeling like I've got my $50 worth. The title defense and challenge levels have become so absurdly difficult that theyre more frustrating than fun, and in the end theyre just fluff. There's just not enough meat to the game.

I've read the reviews - although I agree with all that's said in the various reviews, but most game critics dont pay for their games, and theyve lost that perspective. They expect to be done with a game in a day or two, and then move on to the next. That's why they dont seem to understand why people consider a 7 a bad game - because normal people can barely afford to buy or even have time to play all the 8s, 9s and 10s out there.

This is so a rental if I've ever played one.

You should of got the $55 Punch-Out/Nunchuck combo...better deal :p

I'm still up for a remake of punch-out...but being 15 years since the last punch out game you'd figure they could come up with something completely new. Hopefully only a few years until the next punch-out title.

I guess I just got a different vibe from the reviews. It all screamed rental for me. Nostalgia is nice, but I think Mario and Zelda are the only two I'd get any value. Actually, I'd probably buy a remake of duck hunt for the comedic value.

Does anyone else think the audio is just plain bad in this game? Everything just sounds flat and lifeless. Overall the game is enjoyable, but it's pretty much just a remake. Still, it's nice to actually be able to use the Wii again.

Picked it up, can't get the girl off of it. Using wiimotion for it is very difficult and even more so if you use the balance board. The challenges (available in exhibition matches) and practice modes are a real added bonus.

I got the game awhile ago, and I just beat Mr.Sandman for the first time. Ironically, I did it in round 1 without falling to the mat a single time. It took me like 15 tries though....

I found this game highly enjoyable. Admittedly, I never finished the NES version of punch out, merely started it, so alot of the characters are new to me.

Now, on to title defense!
