Anyone else ever had this problem?

Ive had my 75gxp 30gig for just over a month now. Just yesterday while checking my email, out of the blue a high pitched whining sound was coming out of my case. I thought it was just one of the fans going bad, but after i got in there to check it out,its my hdd. wtf? I havent had it all that long,and the noise is louder than my hsf. I tried calling outpost, but im 2 days over their 30 day return policy. What should i do? Anyone else have this problem before? TIA.

my gut feeling is you should backup your data & exchange the drive as normally it runs virtually silent!

Backup your data then RMA the drive with IBM.

If you dont have anyway to backup your hard drive, you could advance RMA it. They will charge you for the hard drive replacement and send you the hard drive first. Copy HD to HD, then send in bad hard drive. When they receive bad hard drive they will automatically credit the charge.

Thanks alot guys! I listened to the sound test, it sounded mostly like the slow spindle wav. Im going to advace rma it because i have no way to back it up. Thanks again!
