Just watched Quantum of Solace again because I really like Craig as Bond and wanted to clear up a few things in my mind. Walking out of the theater I really disliked it and thought it was horrible. After this second time however it's gone in the ok/good pile, nowhere close to Casino Royale, but still better than Brosnan (Goldeneye being the exception).

This isn't the only movie that this has happened. Sin City was another one I truly enjoyed the second time around. Maybe because I don't focus on the graphics and the scenary and focus on the plot more.

This happen to anyone else?

I've seen it twice. QoS is not a bond flim. Seen Sin City twice, too, and blargh. Watching a movie, even the first time, is always cause to pay attention to the plot.

The Bourne trilogy. Watched all 3 back to back after seeing them before, and it was much better. I think they really did that series well; acting, action scenes, music (I have all 3 soundtracks), plot, were all superb.

I didn't like either Daniel Craig Bond movie that much, but I did like Quantum of Solace better than Casino Royale. I liked the Bourne movies better than them.

It's damned rare that I watch a movie twice, and even the ones I love, I need at least a 1 year break between viewings.

it's very very rare for me to watch a movie more than once... I just don't have the time with all the movies I've still never seen.

It really depends on the movie. Some, such as guilty pleasures like Armageddon, The Core, Independence Day, and so forth, I can watch numerous times. Others, like Fight Club, I can watch more than once and get more out of it each time.

There are other movies I can't watch more than once.

Agreed on that one. I held prejudice the first time around.

Nope. Just as much? Maybe. Fight Club and The Prestige? They lose a lot when the surprise is gone.

If it's not worth watching multiple times, it's not worth watching once. I've probably seen American Beauty 20-25 times.

I watch lots of movies multiple times and almost always enjoy them as much or more on the second viewing. It's not unusual for me to rent a movie, watch it that night and then watch it again the next day. Guess that's a bit weird but oh well, I enjoy it.

As for getting more out of a movie from a second viewing, good examples would be The Matrix, The Prestige and Fight Club. *** SPOILER *** Any movie where the ending is a revelation that everything you watched so far has been an illusion. It's fun to go back and see the things you missed the first time around.

A few movies this has been true.

I hated Magnolia the first time I watched it, but now think it is a great film
I really didn't see the fuss of the Big Lebowski, but now I think its an amazing film
Same with Nepoleon Dynamite

I think strange/peculiar films warrant a second watching, especially if you didn't really focus on it it he first itme.

I worked in movie theaters for several years. Seeing movies over and over again made me realize that the first time through is an extremely different experience from repeated viewing. In fact we called the first time the "practice run".

There are many movies that are interesting the first time but don't bear up under a second time. And many that wear really, really well.

Good point. If it's a good comedy I'll watch it again. But if it has a super twister plot or a surprise ending, I tend to not watch again, even though I may have liked the first viewing.

Often. A lot of films need repeated viewings to develop deeper appreciation.

Actually, I recently re-watched QoS after being extremely underwhelmed and annoyed by it in the theater, and liked it more. It's still far inferior to Casino Royale, but it was a bit more tolerable. Like Nik said, it doesn't feel like a real Bond film, but it is entertaining for brief spurts.

Certain comedies that have a lot of inside jokes and such are funnier when you watch them again.
