Oatmeal? Are you in prison or preschool? :p

I used to like oatmeal with raisins, butter, and grape nuts in the winter.

neither

grape nuts? hmmm....that's an interesting idea.
Yeah...it adds a crunch. The raisins simply add antioxidents, sugars, and give you another texture to make it more interesting that just mush.

I'll have to give that a try now.

Oatmeal is great! I like how versitile it is. You can add many different things to bring out different tastes (vanilla, brown sugar, salt, cheese, cocao, maple syrup, frozen fruits, preserves, cinnamon, butter). I wish I had time to make it every morning.

I also like adding a little flaxseed meal or wheat germ to it. Bonus nutrients, fiber and essential fatty acids.

Healthy? Soluble fiber FTW.

Try mixing in some other cereals to change the texture or flavor - a little berry granola can completely change it around. I know, I know - how can someone get so excited about breakfast cereals... you'd be surprised.

..I slice up fuji apples..put rasins in it..pineapple slices..peach slices. Dried cherries. All this takes a fairly large bowl but it's good. I use hot water..don't like milk. The natural sugars in the fruit are all ya need. And a pot of black coffee and I'am good to go. :D

I use the apple cinnamon flavor, then add some oat bran or wheat germ, and after nuking for a minute, stir in a big lump of peanut butter.

One packet simply isn't enough for me, so I'll take one packet of low sugar Maple/Brown Sugar or Apples/Cinnamon and mix it with an equal amount of regular oatmeal.

my cousin mentioned she mixed the flavored packets with the unflavored stuff from the canister. i might try that...

Well, my reasoning behind it is the sugar. I like pretty much all the instant oatmeal flavors, but try to avoid the extra sugar as much as possible. So, going with a reduced sugar packet and a mix of regular oatmeal gives me plenty to eat without loads of sugar.

Oatmeal from Mon-Fri, oatmeal+brown suger+cream.

For people that don't have time to make it, all you have to do is get a good travel mug mix in all the stuff, add hot water, seal it, by the time you step in the office it is ready.

Egg whites, oatmeal & apple butter!! Mmmm..........the breakfast of Lou Ferrigno!! (no bull)

Problem w/ oatmeal is it should probably be left alone, but after brown sugar, maple syrup, sugar, raisins...(worse for your teeth than chocolate, btw)....other cereal, etc. etc. .........you've damn near got yourself a 1,000calories bowl that may or may not be healthy for you.

Hmmmm......;)

I do the half instant packaged oatmeal, like apples and spice. Then I add some of the regular oatmeal. It makes it not so sweet, plus I get more of it anyway. Tried two packages of instant, it is way too sweet for my taste.

Good stuff!

I eat steel cut oatmeal every morning for breakfast. Takes a bit longer to cook than normal oatmeal, but much tastier.

i have the instant quaker with reduced sugar. i should get a box of regular oats to mix it in though, it definitely doesn't feel like enough. i'm usually hungry three hours later.

i make it at work - cup + hot water = quick breakfast.

i love LOVE real oatmeal. not the quick kind, but the big oat kind. i make it as much as i can anytime i want a filling snack.
i like it with some vanilla extract, boiled in milk, some cream, dried fruit(usually raisins or cranberries) brown sugar and cinnamon!
