i love this stuff. it's yummy, heathly, cheap, quick to make, filling, and when the weather gets cold, it's nice in the winter!

i  oatmeal.

any yummy recipes to kick up the oatmeal a notch??

i usually eat mine with a little brown sugar. but lately i've been putting some strawberry jam in it :D

Used to, don't have time now.

Grits, Cream of Wheat, Oatmeal. All good! I should again, buy some instant for work or something. GRITS sound really good right now.

Some brown sugar and honey, maybe a little vanilla extract or coco powder depending on my mood.

I've been getting the instant oatmeal that comes in a variety box - banana, strawberry, blueberry, peach. But I have to eat two envelopes if I want to make it through to lunchtime.

I wish I had time to make real oatmeal, it's a lot better than the instant. Try some McCann's Irish Oatmeal (the Steel Cut variety) if you get a chance. It's the finest I've ever had.

I try to eat oatmeal when I have time at home, or instant oatmeal at the office. Anyone else like Red River cereal? Not really oatmeal, but fantastic warm breakfast.

Oatmeal is great first thing in the morning if I'm going for a longish bike ride (i.e. 50+ miles). I rarely have it otherwise, though.

Great sponge for cholestrol - especially after a large round of endless shrimp at Red Lobster

One packet simply isn't enough for me, so I'll take one packet of low sugar Maple/Brown Sugar or Apples/Cinnamon and mix it with an equal amount of regular oatmeal.

WTF kind of twisted world do we live in when something is "unhealthy" because it has carbs?

Oatmeal is a complex whole grain.

Bad carbs are sugar, other sweetners, white flour products.

NOT fruits, vegetables, whole grains (oats, barley, wheat, etc).

It would be best, however, to eat it with some protein and fat.

I love it. Put some honey (sometimes use brown sugar instead) and then some cinnamon, with some dried apple chunks...mmmm.

Not all breads are equal, but if it's a good kind, yes. That doesn't mean you should eat 80% whole grains. It still has kind of high GI, but not anywhere near as bad as sugar/white flour.

Oatmeal? Are you in prison or preschool? :p

I used to like oatmeal with raisins, butter, and grape nuts in the winter.

Yeah...it adds a crunch. The raisins simply add antioxidents, sugars, and give you another texture to make it more interesting that just mush.
