Worse for me is my 2 year old has allergies but wants to be outside all the time. Generic childrens zertec helps him a lot but I hate giving him drugs at such a young age.

I never really had any; but since I moved to N.VA my nose will run when I am outside for a while.

I live in NOVA too and the green shit is all over the place, but it doesnt bother me.

Yet.

Well it also does not help that my Mil and Wife plant every type of plant and flower you can think of. So even if I wanted to stay away from what ever causes my running nose I would to even know where to begin.

We did cut down our pine tree as that sets my wife off.

Generally, people who were breastfed has less allergies the those that were not. Being breastfed does not mean your "not" going to have allergies.

Between my brother and I, I was breastfed and have slight allergies; my brother was not breastfed and has terrible allergies. I still have allergies, but not near as bad as my brother.

More than likely just a coincidence. My sister was raised under the exact conditions as me and has no allergies at all.

A quick google search shows no benefit of breast feeding to seasonal allergies.

So you hack down a tree to stop your wifes allergies, but she can't part with a few flowers to spare yours?

I mowed my dead yard a few weeks ago and that was brutal. I was plugged up for a few days.
...

I have used a dust mask and it has helped a lot. The cheap disposable ones work OK but the best one I have used is a plastic one that fits my face tight and it has replacement inserts. With that one, my nasals have been more clear after doing the lawn.

Mine are nothing compared to hers (she will get infections even on drugs). That and not sure what causes my running nose and I don;t even take anything. Hers we know pine is a big one but other things hurt her as well.

Also the tree was near power lines so we did not want to wait for a storm to take it out.

I had strep through and an ear infection a couple of weeks ago. It sucked, couldn't breathe through my nose at all, and my throat felt like I had been on a diet of razor blades. Now, however, I can breathe perfectly and just have very minor coughing leftover from that. They gave me Flonase which I used for about a week.... that stuff worked wonders.... Maybe worth using for seasonal congestion too?

Do you "really" think something like allergies can be scientifically proven? With so many other factors involved, it would be almost impossible to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Do you have kids? I have 4 kids - 2 breastfed and 2 bottle fed. The 2 breastfed have almost no allergies, the 2 bottle fed have bad allergies.

Even though not a scientific study, that is 2 groups - my brother and I, and my kids. Each group shows a significant change in allergies between the ones that were and were not breastfed.

The last two years have been really bad for me. I have never had problems with my eyes before but the last two years I have had to get eye drops to keep them from swelling up - they would swell and water so much it was hard to see

I have only had it for a couple of days but this year I bought a Honeywell 17000 air purifier for our bedroom and I am sleeping better. I used to wake up constantly with a clogged nose (even using medications) and for the past couple of nights I have not had that issue. It could be the season is passing but, at this point, I do think it has helped

Yeah, I don't know what is going on this year. I've had really mild seasonal allergies for all my adult life, but so mild that I rarely need to take anything more than a few days (and not even around the clock, just once per day would suffice).

Last fall was bad, and this spring has been even worse. Been taking the meds (almost around the clock) on and off for four weeks. Last few days have been good, though, so hopefully its over.

Man I'm dying here in the ATL. Been a solid month of cold like symptoms. On two different prescription meds even and I'm still bad. Cannot wait for this allergy season to be over. I don't remember it being so bad in previous years.

yeah this year is the worst so far...I could usually get by the annual tree pollen season in april and May with one loratadine and daily use of neti pot, but not this year. I feel like I have a cold on top of my allergies...hopefully just 3 more weeks of this $hit.

For everyone that I know, this year is the worst in recent memory for allergies. I missed the last half of yesterday of work and now, the full day of today due to allergies.

I haven't been dying as the Walatin (Walgreen's generic Claritin/Loratadine) has been doing well, but my eye's - ohhhh my eye's! My eye lids are pretty swollen, red, and sore/painful when touched. I'll probably try some Benadryl before bed to combat the eye issues, but I can't use it during the day or else Zzzzzzzz. I might try Zyrtec (if it's cheap or there's a generic available) as people have been saying it works better than Claritin.

Mine have been sort of bad this spring, but not terrible. Not bad at all right now, but I worry that things will get crazy if it ever rains.

Thankfully I'm not allergic to anything that I know of. The pollen index around here is off the charts, my car went from black to green almost overnight. I'm never seen the pollen collect that thick that quickly. Everyone I know with even slight allergies is suffering big time.

I never had allergies my whole life, but the past two days it seems I'm getting them : ( I think it has something to do with having my sinuses gutted (ethmoidectomy + other stuff)

Just developed seasonal allergies about 4 years ago at the ripe old age of 25. The best part is that I was already allergic to allergy medicine, cold medicine, and decongestants. Yay for me.

Hey fun , i get to cancel you out statistically :) - I also have 4 kids also but the opposite result - the 2 that were breastfed have horrendous allergies and the 2 bottle fed are nearly non-allergic.

They are all, however, lactose intolerant, as is my husband (but not me).
