I had a collection 6-7 years ago, and used to battle against my friends. However I sold them off, and never gave a second thought about them. That is until this past weekend, when I was going through some of my older toys. I found a ton of Star Wars collectibles (namely action figures, micro machines, books, and the original Lego Star Wars launch items from 1999).

I found a ton of old 9-pocket card sleeves, which I used to have my cards in. I thought to myself "man it would be cool if I could pick up another card collecting hobby". I did basketball cards for a while, as well as LOTR TCG and Star Wars TCG. I started thinking "maybe I should collect some of the original Pokemon cards (base set, jungle, fossil) from my childhood. I don't plan on playing with them, just collecting them. Anyone else in their 20s still collecting Pokemon cards? I know most people will say "geek" or "nerd" and I'll admit it is a tad bit, but back in the day I really enjoyed the Gameboy games, and collecting the cards. I know some people collect comic books they used to read back when they were a kid.

Why do people collect Magic cards, or any other kind of collectible?

My son does...

Back in the day I did MTG. Probably spent about $1000 and ended up selling them for $400. I had some ST:CCG and Vampire cards too that I got rid of. That's about it.
